2012 W212 E350 Bluetec
Picked up a Bluetec

Hi everyone,

Just picked up a 2012 E350 BlueTec with the following:

Arctic white over Almond/Black
S02 Premium II Package
Heated Steering Wheel
Split Folding Rear Seats
Driver Assistance/LDP Warning Package
Sport Package

I'd like to thank everyone here who has been so helpful about posting residuals, answering questions about rebates and MSDs, and provided smart tips such as residualizing the prepaid maintenance contract. Some details if anyone is interested:

MSRP $60,395
Residual value 76% 12k mi/yr
Plus Prepaid Maintenance $1,129

Selling Price:
I offered $53,450 less 3k conquest cash
They ran out of CC but ultimately we did $52,750 less 2k fleet employee program rebate
Added to cap cost:
LAF $795
Maintenance $1,129
Sales tax 7% $598

MF: buyrate .00210 less 10 MSDs (.00070) and autopay (.00010) = .00130

Due at inception:
10 MSDs
1st month payment
NJ luxury surcharge of 0.4% of vehicles with gross selling price about 45k: 210
Title & Registration: 258
Doc fee: 145 (yes I normally I hate paying it but overall the bottom line here was the best)

I'd also like to thank Mercedes-Benz of Cherry Hill in NJ just outside Philadelphia, PA. I can provide the salesperson's contact info to anyone interested, but what I liked most was that the painlessness of the process seems to be institutionalized throughout the dealership. From starting online to talking to the salesperson to signing the contracts with the F&I manager without any extras being shoved down my throat to shaking hands with the sales manager, it was my least aggravating purchase in memory.

Mercedes e350 BlueTec
You did really well and have a great car although I prefer my arctic white over beige to the beige/black

Now enjoy it....remember to drive it on the highway every so often to burn off the gunk in the particulate filter (unless you always drive slowly as in a taxi, you probably don't have to worry about this)....and remember that blueTec fluid is not included in the maintenance, so rather than pay MB $99 to fill the tank at 10K miles, head down to your local VW dealer, buy the fluid there and fill it yourself (note: some just buy the stuff at truck stops, but I figure buying VW guarantees that whatever I buy meets the bluetec standard since VW is one of the partners in that consortium).

Thanks, I am very happy with the car in question given the low inventory. I wanted P2 definitely (xenons and keyless-go) + Sport with a strong preference for folding rear seats. I am glad it didn't come with too many extra, unwanted items and we will come to appreciate the heated wheel and LDP over time.

I have seen a dichotomy in the inventory where many cars are P1 plus some stuff (MSRP high 50's) while some P2 equipped cars are loaded with lotsa stuff I don't want/need (MSRP high 60s). This one was "just right" - quite remarkable since there are just a handful of P2 Bluetecs left in the area (200 miles of NYC).

In terms of color, Arctic White over Almond/Black interior is very nice. I didn't want black or beige exterior, which basically leaves M-B's plethora of greys and silvers. We already have a grey E350 in the family, and I didn't notice any silver P2s except as far as Florida. There is a Lunar Blue in North Haven, CT - uncommon color among E350s for sure but I suspected it wouldn't have P2 and I never got the window sticker or options list after asking twice.

I have not bought prepaid plan for our E Bluetec, but our GL Bluetec was bought with 3 years prepaid plan included in the price and I know for sure adding DEF fluid included in it. I just did service A couple months ago, no charge for anything.

To OP : congrats ... nice car..you will love it.

Congrats on the Bluetec!

How much is the monthly payment? I keep looking over the figures thinking I'm missing it somewhere but it doesn't seem like you posted it?

I remember a thread about 3 months ago that monthly payments for $60k BT around $400, with 0 down. It makes me think to take BT if a real fuel economy is here.

You can get it for that price if you're eligible for any of the special discounts like USAA or Employee. All others can get it for about $470-$530 per month with P1 package easily (depending om miles per year).

I havent calculated the true fuel economy yet, will do so when I refill. even then the first tank will reflect 53 miles of test driving and a lot of city driving so far. it should really shine on the highway and I'm already thinking of roadtrips.

the monthly payment is 390 incl tax and 365 if you delete tax from the net cap cost. I didn't want to highlight the monthly because July is almost over and next month could bring different residuals or trunk money (conquest). It will also be different for people choosing 10 or 15 K miles per yr.

not everyone has usaa (I didn't) or fleet (I did). But conquest is available to a wide range of people.

Good to know. I hope it's included like aeggroup says, otherwise I'll stop by a vw dealership when required.

If you're seriously interested, I wouldnt wait for me to chime in on fuel economy. consensus across many boards seems to be that highway mpg is better than EPA estimates (how much better depends on how heavy your foot is)...I don't know how mbfs works but bmwfs allows you to lock in the current month program for a few days. if you find something you like, lock in by 7/31 just in case the August programs are worse.
