Steering wheel right-leaning bias?

I can see my E350's steering wheel does not locate in the center, it is biased to the right (see the photo).

Any ideas why they have this design? This is really strange and I feel uncomfortable for a long trip.

Sounds like alignment is out, toe in the front perhaps.

Most likely an alignment. Could be a bent suspension component. Should be simple to diagnose.

Or it could be that the steering wheel was not put on correctly. I had this on a previous car I bought. Its alignment was fine.

i know what you're talking about. the steering seems to be mounted slightly to the right instead of centered to the seat. it's kinda weird to me as well. I notice after I bought the car. I try not to think about it as it's driving my ADD crazy.

It has nothing to do with alignment. All M-B's (or at least E's) have a steering wheel designed to where it's not actually straight ahead (centered) and for some reason is angled to the right. Not sure why they do it (by design or sacrificed engineering placement) but I never really noticed it until it was pointed out here.

Are you absolutely sure it is not centered while you drive? You took the picture with the steering wheel up at the easy exit position. It may be moving up and right for that.

If you look at the bottom spoke of the wheel it is not centered in the cowl behind either. I would think it is centered to this when the wheel comes down to driving position...or then not...

May be able to have car aligned so that it is centered.
However, need to consider that most roads (at least in US) are sloped toward the right so they will drain water. So, wouldn't having a slightly right biased steering wheel that you normally turn slightly toward the left result in a centered steering wheel?
For me, not a problem as I spend too much time looking at Comand screen, speedometer display features, playing with all the buttons to look at more things, select songs, etc. Oh yeah, and occasionally look out the windshield to see what is going on.
