Those power BMW 7 doors are annoying too. When you open them its like you're pulling against an electric motor and it just doesn't feel right. Give me regular ol' doors please.
The MB door handles aren't cheap, they feel very solid and high quality they're just a stupid idea.
Those renders look plausible, really don't like the star DRLs...

Wish it was an option, I understand people here were complaining about the EQS not having power doors and exclusive to Maybach, I think they were called Comfort doors? Wasn't it rumored the facelift W223 will finally get powered doors?

As for the door handles, if they want to have aerodynamic door handles, they don't have to reinvent the wheel at all, just use the same ones they had in the SLS Gullwing.

I thought they were utterly fantastic. That is a feature I would use every time.
The pop out door handles.. I don't know if Tesla used a Mercedes part for those, as they often took from the MB parts bin, but my experience with the Tesla version was they would often not present.

Different strokes for different folks. They would quickly become annoying to me.

Tesla handles existed long before MB's handles, the two have nothing to do with each other. MB's handles often don't present, but they feel much higher quality than Tesla's...

Looking forward to the official reveal near the end of the year or so or early next, so far not a fan of the headlights and taillights but I am optimistic everything else will be an improvement.
I really dislike the lights, front and back. However, I would forgive the lights if they just simply got rid of their 9-speed transmission. This is the worst automatic transmission I’ve ever experienced in my long life and I’ve driven a lot of terrible cars in my lifetime lol. I fully expect and know the 3 to 2 downshift will be terrible and it always is, but every now and then this thing will bog down and lag for a long time on even modest throttle kick downs.

Even on the W223 you are currently driving? I know you hated it a lot on the GLE 53 but what about the W223?
I like my W223. I HATE the transmission. I guess I got unlucky when it comes to the transmission as I got two duds in a row.

If the GLSs I test this weekend have one hint of clunk my order will be canceled. I can’t believe they still can’t produce a decent gearbox. The person at MB responsible for allowing them to keep producing them should be fired, that section of the plant closed and a call to ZF made post haste! WTF are these people getting paid for!

It is per vehicle basis, forum member streamliner's loaner GLE had smooth shifting but there were numerous complaints of rough shifting from actual customers. Just because the vehicle you test drive doesn't have clunky shifting doesn't guarantee the vehicle you get delivered doesn't have shifting problems.

Well, it's also subjective. It's not like the gearbox is trash, but it also depends on what other cars you drive... if you are coming from other Mbenz cars, it's just going to be more of the same.. it will be clunky but you won't notice it (until it gets really bad in some cases).. but if you have a few other cars with a "proper" transmission, or coming from one of those (e.g.: BMW vehicles as an example), you would immediately notice how inferior and trashy Mbenz cars shift.
2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...

Actually, my experience is that the transmissions seem to “develop” sloppy & clunking shifting characteristics over time. My first 2020 S560 was fine when delivered, but developed a very harsh 3-2 downshift after about six months of driving. My 2022 S580 seemed OK initially, but also seemed to get very sloppy over time. With that car, there were so many irritating issues, I can’t remember just when I started to notice the transmission behavior. Our 2019 E450 Wagon and 2019 SL450 both drive perfectly. I am of the opinion that the transmission issues started in 2020.
So, my GLE was bad right off the lot and never got better no matter what the dealer tried.
My S Class was great the first few hundred miles then started to progressively get worse. It’s terrible. It clunks EVERY TIME it goes through the 3 to 2 downshift.

Gotcha, that mirrors my experience with MBs as well.
