Black ash blemish

Anyone have a suggestion for how I might possibly even out this blemish on my center console? [EDIT: the circular dark area is what I'm referring to... looks like part of the shadow in this photo] I'm not sure what the previous owner may have done to cause this, but would love to know if it's fixable. It's kind of weird, because I can't figure out which part of the console is actually the problem. Is it the small glossy spot that is the blemish, or could it be that the small spot was covered by something when the rest of the console was blemished by some type of spray? You can see in the photos that the small spot is much glossier than the rest of the surface. Both areas are certainly glossy, and if the console was one or the other, either would look totally fine and acceptable. As it is, though, you can see where the one spot seems to have a completely clear finish to it, while the rest has a slight haze in the sunlight. Only in direct sunlight is it obvious, and as you can see in the photo, it's really only visible from the driver's side.

So, should I try any tricks to fix it, or better off to just leave it alone?

No offense, but I cannot see the problem in your photos. You could maybe have someone try to polish that entire section to see if you can even it out. I have black ash and it shows dust and any grime(coffee spills, etc) very easily in that specific area.

No offense taken! But take no offense either when I ask you.... you really can't see that huge spot in the first photo?

i would use polishing compound with a very clean and soft cloth, not too much just a bit and go lightly until you polish out the dull spots and scratches. I have always done this, just use very little compound and make sure it doesn't get on the plastic, hard to come off of the soft plastic parts.

... and actually, I guess I can see how some people might look at the first photo and think that circle of darkness is part of the shadow. It isn't, that's actually the "blemish" I'm referring to.

I seriously thought that WAS a shadow as you cannot see it so well in photo 2. Ha! Oh well, sorry about that.

I thought it was a reflection. It's always hard to tell from pictures but it looks like the "spot" is actually what the wood should look like and the rest is faded around it. Like a sticker or something was there to block the sun. If that's the case the only way to fix it is to replace that piece. Then it won't match the rest unless you replace that as well.

Read through this thread. Maybe yours will be covered free of charge even though it is a newer model? Good luck!
