2012- E550 vs. -2011 E550 Drag racing
Yesterday I took out my stock 2012 E550 4matic (402 hp) to the strip. The car is loaded, including heavy options like tow bar, panoramic-roof, park heating, active seats, Airmatic, Distronic and so on.
It was my first time one the strip. The track itself was on a hill and basically a closed Airfield from the Russians in the former eastern part of Germany. It was ill-prepared and I did not floor it right at the beginning due to hugh bumps in the track...I kind of feared damage.
However, the car pulled a 13.4s @ 109mph with an 2.3s 60' time. It was 0.6s faster than two other E550 (5.5 V8 with 382 hp from 2010). They topped out at 101mph, as did an E550 from 2008 (W211). However, this guy pulled 13.8 in the very fast manual transmission mode.

I wonder if there are any places near me where I could do that - legally that is.
That .5 second difference is consistent with the gains noticed in road tests of the TT V8 2012 over the prior model.

This time, we took those cars to the Autobahn and did a little shootout from zero to >155mph.
Note:
1. All cars are stock except for the M273 5.5 V8 (382hp) - those have the V6 sports package airbox for a better intake sound.
2. All speedometers show km/h except for the '12 E500 4matic (402hp)
3. All cars carry one passenger
4. The E550 / CLS550 is called E500 / CLS500 in Germany
5. Enjoy!!

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
If you didn't floor it from the start and this is a suboptimal track you probably could have broken into 12.9 if you brake torqued and got a better 60' time. Nice runs ... Just goes to show you how hard it is to get that 12.8 second 1/4 mile the car mags quote for this car...
Nonetheless ... 13.3 seconds for a heavy Benz... That's awesome... Some people have posted 12.4 seconds for a 2012+ e with renntech tune... It makes you appreciate all the extra power the tune produces even though 12.4 seconds is only .4 seconds less than the best cited car mag time for a stock e550

I am pretty sure, that a E65 does not exist. You are probably referring to the E63, which came in several versions. As a 6.2 V8 (NA) with RWD and as a 5.5 V8 BiTurbo with RWD or optional AWD.
