E 300 AMG-Line diesel-Hybrid - 2021
New Sedan owner: Some remarks & Q's

Hello everybody

Came from the C (200CDI), to the E coupe (220CDI) &
now since 1 week the E Sedan (220CDI)

I have hesitated for a long time to take the E coupe again,
because I love the design, but in the end It’s just not a very practical car.

The space in the back is ridiculously small & difficult to get in
(anyone over 1.85m touches the sealing), Plus, it only seats 2 in the back

So the E Sedan it is now, and can already say I do not regret my choice.

A few “negative” comments though:

air ventilation in the chairs (there are several posts about this already &
I wish I’d read them BEFORE taking this option);
It just doesn’t function very well. In fact why does it have 3 settings, cos
only on the highest it’s works a little bit… all in all not really worth the money.

media interface (ipod connection) this comes with the standard 30 pin connection,
and if you want the new lightning cable you have to pay for it. A 350 euro option,
and I don’t get the 2 cables with it….? Strange.. or should I say “cheap”?

command online : the internet radio is nice when it works, but every time
You get into the car you have to go into the online menu, choose internet radio,
choose station & then connect… it’s not very user friendly.
Don't care so much for the other options like google local, facebook etc,
especially as it's faster to do that directly on my phone...

I have an air leak (seal) in my pano roof which results in a hissing sound.
Very irritating since the car's quiet so you can hear any sound immediately.
Will have it fixed, but these sort of problems are not always easy to find & fix.
Did anyone here have this problem too & if so what was done to fix it?

& last can someone tell me what this symbol means (see pic)?

Cheers & regards
Egon

I don't know what features the Euro spec car comes with but it looks like your car reads road signs like the speed limits. I'm guessing that it is related to that.

cheers. it doesn't mention this symbol anywhere, but indeed when I switch of the "road sign" feature it's gone...

In Europe the speed limit recognition function is available. I don't know if the car adjusted sts the speed accordingly or just gives a warning if speeding or if it does anything. Would be stupid to recognize the signs and do nothing though...

that's distronic plus. it keeps the distance from the car in front . basically intelligent cruise control. but it does not take road signs in account.

well took it back to the garage & they adjusted the pano roof.

they took it for a test drive afterwards & for them all was in order.

But it isn't. no change at all.

It's a hissing sound which SEEMS to be coming from right in front of me.

It's definitely an air leak... but is it the pano roof, or maybe the windshield which isn't glued properly...?

going back to the garage on Monday, but if anyone here had a similar experience,
please let me know

the frustrating thing is that the sound might not be a problem or heard by 99.99%
of the people, but it drives ME nuts, and I fear that this problem is gonna drag on for a long time

I notice that most European cars seem to have small displacement diesel engines. Is there a big difference in the purchase cost as opposed to the 3.0 TT gas engine? Or is it the taxes on gas guzzler engines and the price of fuel that make the small diesel the popular choice?

In a lot of European countries you are taxed on displacement. So the smaller more fuel efficient engines are favored. Curious as to what the European posters have to say.

That symbol is actually the speed limit assist - it shows the speed limit on the dashboard. (Like the picture shows)
Also, dealerships sell the media interface cable as an accessory, not standard equipment. There is a video-capable version, too; but it's more expensive.
