I thought about the extended aftermarket warranty, but I decided against it.
I hope that doesn't bite me in the @ss later. In this case I would have saved my time on the labor but still paid the deductible which probably would have been more than the part.

My Driver's seat would not heat in the center either!
I own a 2010 Mercedes Palladium Silver E-Class 350 with 40K I bought in the last week of October 2014. It has all the options along with Distronic. I had the car into service last week for air leaks and unbalanced tires but I mentioned to the Service Manager about the seat not heating correctly. He said, "we checked it and Yes, there is a voltage drop", so they are going to replace the heating element. I heard where other MB owners had the complete bottom changed out? Well, they haven't called yet on the parts being in so...........the saga continues! I am glad seeing the post of MB World to check my seats out! There were quite a few MBs out there with BAD Driver's Seat Heating elements!

I feel like it still heats up this year but it's slower or maybe it doesn't get as hot. Same thing as the rest of you, the center bottom part under the flat cushion. Both seats seem to warm up but it takes a long time and they don't seem to be as hot as the other parts of the seat that are being warmed.

I ordered one today from ecs tuning. I stuck it out through last winter without fixing it, but the weather is cooling off again and it's something I want to have ready by the end of November. I'll probably try to do it myself, but may call my Indy to see what they quote. Any good advice that's not in here for diy would be much appreciated. Thanks!

My drivers seat is definitely broken... seems to be a common problem on early W212s? Think MB will pay for it under good faith?

Theres a few PDFS attached on this one that aid in the job.

as I remember it was a little tricky getting the cover back onto the seat frame. You have to work the edge around.
My cover is now ripped like everyone elses crappy MB Tex.
I haven't ordered a new cover yet.

Not impressed by ECS
ECS posted pics of the part.

I assume they didn't ever have one to take pics of until they received the one I ordered.
I notice that the wire routing looks different than mine. Maybe they updated it so it doesn't break as easy.

How to disconnect the seat heater wire/connector ?
Hello,
I tried to pull out the connector to disconnect the heater wire so I can remove the cushion, but I was not successful. Any tips on how to disconnect or unclip? thanks.

Well I found this site.

It isn't quite the same as mine though.
Basically you get the seat out of the car and then unclip the wires that feed into the seat heater under neath. Pry the surround edges of the cushion off and take it off. You need to then pop loose the clips that hold the leather or pleather in my case cover to the foam, I couldn't figure out how to get loose some of the clips on one side, so I just unclipped the blue ones and was able to flip over the cover and have access to the heater element. You can then peel away the edge off and slide out the old heater. Looks like the new one has an adhesive strip to attach the edge to the seat cover. If I had the part on had when I took it apart the other day I don't think it would have taken me but like an hour and a half to do the whole job.

konigstiger i have a question - I found this part nuber on ebay A2128202298 It's described as the heater for the seat for W212. How/ is it possible those two numbers( A212 906 40 02 and A212 820 22 98 ) to be for the same part?
