Extended warranty for '10-'11 E550?
I am currently looking for a 2010 or '11 E550. I know MB's are pricey to fix but I have been warned to death about airmatic fixes. Are extrended warranties the way to go or are they scams? My gut says the latter. Anyone have advice out there?

def get the extended warranty!!! You just never know. Also, as far as i know the extended warranty covers 98.9% of what the original warranty does. Hopefully someone here can tell us what that is

MB Extended all the way. Had two years on my wife's CLK, it paid for itself many times over. Just bought 3 years of MB extended on my 2010 E. two weeks later had to replace the multifunction seat air bladders. Paid for half of the cost in that repair alone.
Never had a problem with anything being covered. It is pricy but they honor it. Just make sure you stay current with the maintenance.

If you still are covered by the original warranty, you should qualify for the MB extended warranty and you can buy that from any MB dealer even though you may purchase the car from a non MB dealer. Do a search on this forums for people to contact for best prices on the MB ELW- I got my 7yr/100000miles for $2950. PM me for details.
Good luck

Only a MB extended warranty is worth it IMO. I have a 2012 E550 without airmatic (although I would have got one with it too since I'm under warranty till 2017).

If MB ELM is not available for the car you select (i.e. it is out of factory warranty), then you should ask an SA at your local dealer which warranty companies they find are easy to work with. My SA had a list at their desk. Fidelity and Maxcare (Carmax) were #1 and #2 on their list.

Too many german broads
I have extended (3rd party) warranty through Mercury. Best extended warranty that deals with Mercedes and their high labor rates.
I have had my experiences with many different extended warranties, just do your research before buying anything, even from a dealer.

I bought mine from my dealer last month.
As a regular customer they waived the inspection fee and gave me a discount on the premium.
They use SecureDirect.

I bought my 2010 E550 from the dealer in October 2014 as a CPO, so it has the CPO 1 year warranty on it (good thing).
I also paid for a two year extension warranty at the time of purchase, so the warranty on this beast is good until late 2017. This is also a good thing.
Why a good thing? Well, yesterday I brought it in for a car wash at the dealership, and when they had pulled it up to the washing bay they couldn't start it again! Turns out the steering lock as malfunctioned on it. I am not sure if it is the EIS or the ESL that has actually failed, but I am sure they will let me know.
Two things that were very nice about this experience... first, it happened at the dealership, with the dealer actually driving it. Couldn't ask for a better location for something to go wrong like that. Second, it is covered by warranty, so I shouldn't have any issues. I got the extra warranty because, like many others, the air shocks worry me, and if there is a failure in them during that time, I will be covered well.
Reading the forums about this particular problem, it appears to be a relatively uncommon problem (particular for the W212) but it does happen, and it is not a very cheap fix... usually costing in the range of $1000-1200 or so to get fixed.
