2012 E550 4MATIC
Advice Please!
Hello all, I'm looking to purchase a '12 E550. It has less than 20k miles but since it is a 2012 model that was actually built in 2011, it has less than a year left on the original warranty. Can I get comments on the general reliability of these cars? With less than 20k should the soon to expire warranty really be an issue to consider?
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!

Pick up April issue of Consumer Reports magazine-it's the car issue and check out truedelta.com.
However, you are looking at a 550 and most reporting has been done on the 350. The E350, RWD, V6 is one of the most reliable cars MB makes. BUT, MB makes some pretty unreliable and expensive to repair cars.
Even though I only drive my E350 about 3,000 miles per year, I still got the extended MBUSA warranty. As noted above, repairs can be expensive. If you don't use it, consider it peace of mind the same as insurance.

you can buy the MB ELW up until the car goes out of warranty. So if you're unsure, drive it for a year or so and then decide if ELW gives you the piece of mind you need.

Transfer case was a big constant ongoing problem with the previous generation, seems like they may have some bugs to iron out still on w212.
