90mph in dreamland
So I'm racing to the airport because we're running late. It's early on a Sunday morning and hardly anyone is on the highway. I take her up to 90 mph and was in absolute awe at how beautiful the ride was. I felt like I was floating in a quiet peaceful chamber.
I usually drive it like an old man. This car really shines at high speeds. I love my 350!

2014 E550-sold 😩
The E is designed to go 120 all day long on the Autobahn with no drama.

OP, see you have a Prius. Having driven a 2006 Prius for 8 years myself, I was shocked to get my E550 out on the highway. I had never experienced anything like it. So smooth and stable. You really have to cruise to appreciate this car IMO. I have floored it to pass (old habit from the Prius) at 65-70 thinking I got the car up to 80-90 and looked down to find myself going 120. The only drama was my reaction.

For all speed and MB enthusiasts I put this suggestion out again. Make a nice European vacation. Fly to Munich and rent one of these E-class cars. I'm not sure what the big engine in Europe now is but E350 would be big enough. Go drive on the Autobahns at late evening or at night time when traffic is down and limits lifted on most of them (avoid weekends as roads are packed). It is a very nice experience to go as fast as you dare and with these cars you really can go fast and it does not even feel NOTHING at 100 mph. 120 mph is a very comfortable cruising speed and does not feel anything on these cars.
And you can go faster but always be ready to hit the brakes as some people jump on the left lane without looking at the mirror.
Munich is excellent place to fly to as you have many autobahns connecting there and if you want to go see other European countries Austria, Italy and Switzerland are very close. So is Czech Republic but I'm not sure if MB as a rental car is allowed to be driven there.

I just want you to know... i've been driving 80-90mph from Miami to Orlando the last 2 weeks and this thread once again confirms that I need to buy a Mercedes for my commuter car.
You should copy and paste my reply and take it into a MB dealer so you can ask for a commission :P

You drive 140-150 mph or even faster and you know what the E-class is build for...110 mph feels like nothing.

Yep these cars are so deceptive - when I floor mine on the highway I have to catch myself I am easily above 90+ in a heartbeat.

I feel high speed is where the E and S Class really show their true colors compared to other vehicles. The noise level, comfort, and feeling of rock solid stability is why I feel very comfortable at high speed in these models. You can just feel it in your bones that these cars are loafing at U.S. speeds and were designed for much higher speeds.

It's all true what you guys are saying. My new baby is so stable at 120 it feels like I am sitting on the couch at home. Wish I could find a place nearby to really let it roll out.

I commute on the Florida Turnpike and coming home this week I was able to comfortably sit at 110ish for almost 2 hours straight... it was freakin' awesome.
