From what I have been told it has to do with fuel economy ratings. BMW has the option to turn the eco off because they have a very fuel efficient small car. Mercedes benz does not. In order to have the same rating as BMW Mercedes Benz had to leave the eco button on. This is what I was told How true it is I am not certain I think the money I spent was well spent. I get in the car and it automatically turns the button off.

I think you are correct and that is what MB negotiated. The ECO function had to return to default on start up. At least they were able to install an option to turn it off, but doing this every time would be a total PITA. Good job getting this done locally and the price is very reasonable. If I had this ECO stop/start I would be doing the same thing. The loaner cars I have had were annoying as he ll.

Thanks. I guesstimated it to be at around $300 range. But personally, I'll keep to my routine - press Eco and then Sport buttons. Takes about a second or two per start. Does not bother me one bit. Now $300 for a Sprint Booster...ah well its a different topic altogether.

My new 2015 E3504 has this annoying eco button and will gladly pay the $300 to have it shut off automatically rather than my normal start up of vent seats/eco/sport, ha. I had the dealership check out my car and was wondering if anyone else had this the following issue;
Ever since I have had the car, once in a while the AC pushes hot air for about 25 seconds and then returns to cold.
The dealership said all diagnostics ran normal and all software was updated.
The only connection I could make is that I have heard that the ac cuts off when the eco is on at rest and this might be messing with it?
Anyone else experienced this?

Make sure you have the ac button pressed on and it is lit. If it does not work properly with the ac button on then there is an issue with the ac. if the button is not pressed it will occasionally blow hot air.

ah, I haven't spotted that light specifically not being lit, but will next time I am out. I guess I assumed the "ac" button would come on if you are in "auto" mode but that's probably not a hard fact.
Will give it a shot, thanks!

I had the same experience with mine but I called the service department and they said make sure the ac lite is on and that you have to push it in.. I assumed it would be on auto but it does not. After that everything worked fine.

My eco button is totally off car does not turn off at stop and there is no hesitation when I go. It is the same as if I went into car and started it and pressed the eco button to disengage. When I get into car and start it the eco button goes on for about 3 sec then turns off automatically. Trust me it is off.

1. The ac issue (which you cleared up hopefully!)
2. The car seems to run hot in my opinion; it was running at 90 to 95 degrees. The techs assure me that these newer cars run at 90 to 100 all the time, amazing and just hoping I'm not that guy on the side of the road with a sweet Mercedes putting water in the radiator!
3. The last thing is this indicator sound coming out of the blower box when the car cools down, it can last for a couple of hours
Here a link to the video that I sent to the dealership after they cleared the car saying everything was on the up and up!

dbldpr, glad you finally got this done. knew it was bugging you.
Interested to know more about the dash cam install. How much was that? How good is the video quality and how much can it store?

Total price installed with the gps was $600. As far as the quality it is very clear on the small screen. The screen has both front and rear on it at the same time I have not take the chip out yet to see what it looks like on the computer. I will wait until I drive a little more. Also found out that a day later I went and opened the trunk in the garage and the camera went on automatically. It must work on some sort of sensor

@arrie, you have a sunglass holder for the car? Is it OEM, meaning I have to order through the dealership, or did you find a 3rd party vendor? Would love it if you could share the info.
@dbldpr, pretty cool about the ECO button. For my part, it doesn't bother me too much. However, does that module that you bought also allow the NAV system address entry and TXT messages to be read while moving? I can't stand that Porsche allowed this on my old Cayenne but Mercedes does not. Yes, I realize I can use the voice entry but after using Google Now, MB voice entry is terrible.
