Hey guys, i have been recently looking into lowering springs for my 2016 E 250 w/ sports suspension. From the research that i have done it seems the sport suspension on the E 350 and E 250 are the same so im thinking the H & R or Vogtlands should work on my vehicle. Im kind of new to this aftermarket world so any advice would be appreciated on which one to go with.
Also on the manufacturer s website it states the H & R drop the vehicle 1.5"-1.8". And the Vogtland 1.6". Now is this refering to the drop on a luxury package suspension or a sport suspenion ? Because the sport suspenion is about .7 inches lower than the luxury, so the actual drop would be around 1 inch which is not much at all.
This is immediately after installing, so it settled a little more (mostly in the rear) over the next couple of weeks. But this is about what it looks like with the stock 18" wheels. You can also get shorter spring pads to make the drop even more dramatic (or even, in some cases where the drop in the front/rears are a little different). There's another thread at the top of the forum right now that has the part numbers. The heights are about even now, with the rake a tiny bit higher in the rear.
The front looks good but yeah the back could use another .5 inch or so, but im glad it settled. Are you happy overall with the modification ? Did you upsize from 18s ? Any drawbacks ?
Oh yes, definitely worth the $250 or whatever it was for the springs. Gives it a whole different demeanor. I have 20" staggered wheels on it now, and the way it settled in the rear makes it just as low as the front (maybe 1/4" higher, but it's within spec for my taste). No rubbing of the fenders on my E350 (pictured).
Drawbacks... the weight of my E550 (which I put the springs on after selling the 350) makes the front rub a little with the new wheels and mildly aggressive offsets, but if you get safer offsets (plenty of info on this board) then you shouldn't have any rubbing whatsoever. Another drawback would be bottoming out on some bumps and driveways... but that comes with the territory. You just learn to drive a little slower
Your positives experiences are convincing me to get the springs, the price is not a concern, i am just trying to maintain the smooth comfortable ride and increase my handling a bit, also of course it looks better. Im looking for some 19s to go with the drop.
I went with Vogtlands also and I still have a rake. The rears didn't lower as much as I wanted. I think I will change out the spring pads in the future in the rear which will lower it more.

The H&Rs gave me a perfect drop. No wheel gap; ride comfort stayed about the same. Of note: I have 35mm profile tires and not the typical 30s.
Oh wow , now thats a game changer beacause i really didnt want to go from 45 series tires to 30. So you are running 35 series tires with 20s ? What exact size are you running ? Can you post a picture please.
Wow man, your ride looks perfect. A nice drop and great looking wheels. Im glad you didnt go with the 5 single spoke Vossen type wheels that everyone seems to be doing on the w212. Im loving your car. Those pictures are exactly the angles i wanted to see, thanks again.

Those wheels accent the silver color of your car immaculately. 20S without question look better but i have factory 17s and that will be a dramatic difference in ride which i am worried about. Im definitely getting the springs, just need to find the right wheels.

Thanks. The right 19's can work as well. Have you looked at some 19" amg replica wheels? Like this one?
I have read good review about the Eibachs but the drop is only around 1 inch thats why i am not considering them.

The AMG replicas are attractive because of the price but i personally do not like AMG wheels because they are very heavy. The replicas are the same weight, i believe about 33 lbs, and i have read reviews that people experience vibrations at speeds over 70 mph. I am looking for some rotary forged wheels that are around 21-23 lbs. I have had really good experience with TSW rotary forged wheels in the past.
