ACTIVE BRAKE INTERVENTION - AWESOME!
Hi,
I have a 2014 E350 CPO I bought a couple of months back. I got a chance to try out the brake assist last weekend (unintentionally!).
I was driving down the road (at around 50MPH) and the truck in front of me stopped suddenly (because something fell off the trailer that was in front of him). I hit the brakes, but not with a great urgency. The car, however, just took over from there.....the seat belts tightened, the collision alert started chirping and the car literally stopped in place, as if I had stood on the brakes!! Luckily, there was no one right behind me, or they would have hit me, for sure!
This technology is amazing! My wife was very impressed with this safety feature as well......i guess it really is "the best or nothing". :-)
Just thought i'd share.
Thanks.

Not sure if this was introduced in 2014. I saw it when i ran the VIN for my car on the VIN decoder website. Seems to be a very useful feature! The belt tightening works well in conjunction with the braking, so you aren't jerked forward in your seat!

its like owning a gun...better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I have a 2017 c300 sport sedan and last week someone cut me off and I heard the beeps, slammed on my brakes and felt them stop the car immediately and the brakes take hold. I have never felt anything like that before in any car I've ever driven and it's saved me from rear ending somebody. This idiot decided to make space for himself in front of me where there was no space by cutting me off on a very congested LA freeway.

I like it on mine as well. Now days, even economy cars come with such technology (perhaps minus seat belt tightening and active seat squeezing you in place in MB). There are quite a bit of information on which car maker's system works better. Contrary to common belief, Volvo system seems pretty useless in most tests I've seen. If I remember correctly, good systems that did well in most tests are from MB, Lexus/Toyota, Subaru, and BMW (2015+). Volvo, Audi, etc did not do well at all.
