Air body control vs Airmatic

Could someone explain what the difference between these 2 are? They both have adaptive dampeners and air bladder springs so what is the difference???? As I understand it Air body control is a refinement of Airmatic but what constitutes this additional refinement is nowhere to be found on the net or the MB tech center. Active body control (S class) is a hydraulic rather than air system thus a different animal altogether. Inquiring minds want to know

Improved Air Body Control simply replaces previous Airmatic (still code 489), see attachment.
