What should i look for when checking out a 2003 G500 4matic?
I dont make much money but the price this guy wants to sell it to me for seems like a steal! I dont want to buy it and have to deal with all of the problems especially expensive ones. Its a little under 5000 the blue book value. It has 115,000 all highway miles and is in PERFECT conition inside AND OUTSIDE, he is a old gentleman and said he garaged since he bought it new. He claims it hasnt caused him much trouble but from what i hear they are VERY problematic. Keep in mind i can afford gas and small cheap problems. Is there any DIY problems i can do myself for cheap? Do you think i should go for it? Any help would be great thanks!
By the way i would drive it in the city and highway maybe around 500 miles a month, I really love the looks of it and always wanted one.

Some suggestions
I bought a 2003 g500 with ~135,000 miles last year. It definitely has required a lot of maintenance. In the first year of ownership, I replaced the computer under the front driver’s seat (which controls the seats etc. but was draining the battery), fixed a number of indicator lights, replaced the power steering pump, and a bunch of other hoses/connectors which has rotted or melted out. It is now back in the shop with a starting problem.
My hope is that I am now getting to the top of correcting various deferred maintenance issues that it had when I bought it. If the second year brings as many costs as the first, I may have to reconsider. But this thing is a beast; I don't worry about getting stuck anywhere on my farm/forest land, which has very diverse and rugged terrain. The addition of aggressive mud tires and a removable front/back winch help.
