Locker switches panel removal

None of my locker switches do anything any more. I'd like to check the connector behind the panel and clean it out. I can see in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtTI-f3sH50 that the guy just pulls the switches right out. Mine are in there really good. I have tried prying around the edges with a plastic panel popping tool but it won't budge at all. Anybody know any tricks?

Thanks
