will g55 18" wheels fit 2016 G63??
Hello everyone,
I am encountering some massive snow here in Vancouver and would like to purchase a set of g55 wheels with winter tires for my 2016 G63.
However because of the massive brakes of the G63, do you know if the G55 18" wheels will clear them? Has anyone tried this configuration?
I want to get some 30X tires so 19"s are hard to come by, hence 18"s are the preferred method.
Thank you for your time.

As far as I know, the smallest wheels that will fit the G63 brake disks and calipers are 19

I use 265/50R-20 Yokohama iceGUARD on my 2 G63s and they look and function awesome and you can use the original 20" wheels

18" wheels will physically fit around the front calipers but it is the offset you need to worry about, spoke of the wheel hitting the side of the caliper.

Here are some photos of an 18" wheel mounted to the front axle of a G63, plenty of clearance to the caliper and the wheel hoop.

You can also always get spacers. I have a set of OEM 18's I am going to get rid of if you want to buy them. But they come with pretty new (under 5K miles) pirelli scorpion tires.

If and when you do find out, let me know when you are ready.
I am currently running 18x9.5 +45 (G55 AMG Kompressor) wheels with 305/60/18 Grapplers all around and would like to go back to 16's so they will be for sale soon!

Hey I also own a 2016 G63 with 20 inch amg 5 spoke rims I just had dealer swap out my summer tires for pirelli scorpion zero all season and I am concerned if they are going to be sufficient in ice & snow compared to a dedicated winter tire??

factory 18's from a G55 will barely clear a g63's larger caliper.... with less than 2mm for flex etc... but should you add 31mm spacers you likely will pick some clearance up based on the rim taper...
I looked at forgestar building a custom 18" but they said they couldn't be sure of more than 3mm clearance....
thus - i went with 20' x 10.5's and run a 34" tire that might work for winter duty....the Toyo At's are snowflake rated.... I'm running 305/55's but suspect you could run a 28/60 to get a bit more bite.
cheers

Hello Vancouver
I just bought a CPO 2016 G63 and was wondering how G handles in snow?? Car came with summer Yoko advan st tires and I just purchased Pirelli scorp. ZERO ALL SEASON from dealer. I originally wanted Pirelli Scorp. ATR all terrain tire but dealer said they could not get ATR tire so gave me the ZEROS. I hope they did RIGHT by me ?? Any suggestions you could make would be greatly APPRECIATED!!!
Thanks YUKON

305's or even the narrower 285's will fit on the oem 20's..... if you go 305's you'll likely need to use spacers to get clearance..... either should have them to widen stance imho....
this is with the 305's on OEM rims
w/ 31mm spacers...

I don't really see much change in MPG - but it's miserable to start with ! that was in Telluride on a Xcountry road trip to seattle and back... we also took it out in MOAB on some light trails but had out new puppy with us so couldn't play too hard...
the wider stance, mild lift and wider tires plus the fox shocks make it an utterly different handling vehicle. I tried 35's but didn't like the ride and they just barely rubbed.... and ironically the 305's are much wider ( quirk in Toyo's sizing matrix it seems...)
as it stands now it's maxxed for width without any rubbing on full articulation, and with the 40mm spacers I didn't need to do brake /locker lines or worry about caster etc...

I read your post about lift kits and your summary. Is this your truck without the lift? The 305's seem like they are pretty full under the fenders and may not allow for any flex. Just wondering. Nice Telluride photo BTW.
