Ordered MB Star Compact C4 from OemOBD2.com
I just ordered the MB Star Compact C4 kit from www.oemobd2.com
Once I receive the kit I will post a full review and let everyone know my experience with the seller. I did a lot of research and was having a hard time finding a good source for this kit.

I'm currently going back and forth with their support team. Once my questions are answered I will post the full review. I do apologize for the wait but I have been resisting negative feedback...

This is the unit I got, http://www.uobd2.com/wholesale/mb-st...-computer.html Got it on monday finally got it reading my wifes car w220. The problem I had was I got the IBM t60 which you need to get the card for the serial port. I just bought a dell d610 which has one built in. Every thing worked well, just need to figure what it all means. They have good customer support on livezilla, takes a little bit getting used to the way they speak/write, and theres a 12 hour time diffence (in NY) so alot of late nights for me. Well so far so good. I have alot of codes, brought her car to car wash got the best one they have got in it esp, abs, and in limp mode, couple of days later waiting for this unit car only starts and comes out of park on warm day and defective display warning came on. It late and I am rambaling any question ask me I will try to answer best I can.

I use the prior version which is a Type D Multiplexer. (C3). These seem to be more reliable and less prone to blacklisting that the SD_Connect MUX's face.
As with all Daimler software, there is a steep learning curve especially if you intend to keep the software current. Not only DAs/Xentry but also WIS, EPC, etc.
I recommend a computer running Windows XP (SP3) and an acutal RS232 port. Too many issued with USB to serial converters, VMware, etc. It can be done but adds more problems into the already complicated communication layers.

the c4 is interactive with mb online.
if you dont have an account it can do very little.
if you have a pre - 2011 car for home use a c3 is far more useful.
if you have a 2011 or newer a c4 is what you need, but see above.

I got a mercedes benz star compact 4 from Plusobd.
They are reasonable, up front if you know what to ask
I bought few things from them..... Still works after 3 years(longest)
Down fall of them is.... They are NOT all up to day on there software versions (if current SD 4 is 2014.07 version they only going to have it up to
either 2014.02 or 2014.5) But stable

So you are saying that a 2011 or newer car requires the C4 for home use but you cannot do much? I was under the impression that you can use either C3 or C4 with 2014 software and it should work fine for 2011 and newer cars? If that is correct then I am gonna stop looking for a system as I have a 2012 car?
