Right side rear mirror will not change the position to view at the bottom when select

Right side rear mirror will not change the position to view at the bottom when I selected rear shift position of the transmission. I had this feature in many cars such as BMW and was almost sure that this feature should be available in Mercedes GL 450 2007. I am wondering if anyone knows if this feature is available and if it is possible to setup somehow. I still hope it is provided. Thank you in advance.

I'm having the same issue on my 07 R and the dealer is looking into it for me. What I heard was that for a brief period around this model year MB took this feature out as a cost saving measure, but I'm unsure if my car is affected or not. I should find out next week what's going on, and if mine is one of the unfortunate batch, it may be possible to add in with the computer programming, but right now that's all speculation.

Thank you for the reply. Please keep me posted on it. I actually visited the dealer and they were not able clearly answer to this question. I hope your will. Do you know what is appropriate/official name for this feature?

Most people refer to it as reversing mirror tilt or auto tilt or something like that.

Neither my 2007 GL 320 nor my 2008 Gl 320 had/have the 'mirror tilt on reverse' feature. My 2004 VW Touareg does have the feature - go figure. So much for bells and whistles on Mercedes!

If it is available, the right side mirror adjustment switch has to be selected for the right side mirror to tilt in reverse.

While typically true, on my 07 R the switch is software based and the side selection turns off after a few minutes (side is indicated by a light and will turn off after a few minutes of no use). I'm fairly certain the GL and ML use the same switch. I notice you used to have an 08 GL, did you have this feature? So with that said if they do activate this feature do I have to press "right side" every single time?

According to the manual it should turn off after 15 seconds if not used.

Only the light turns off but the control or the auto tilt stays on whatever was selected last...

I don't remember how my mirrors worked but there are quite a few threads found with "mirror tilt" using the GL forum search. This says it can be enabled by using the dealer's Star computer.
