thank you, The guard plate is easy to install. take about an hour. why? you need to be patience. The first step is remove the old black plastic guard, this part is hold by four plastic screws, you need to lift this part from any of the front corners (facing the trunk), not the center, you need to use some force to broke the pins/plastic screw, I did by hand using moderate force, after the first one is gone, the next one is alot easy. then you slide the part to your direction, pull.. part will came off.

I post a pictures how the pins/screw are, don't worry, I don't think you can brake the bumper pulling this piece. After remove this piece you need to clean up, alot of dust, dirt under the old black trim.
Then with the new piece, due to this part don't belong to the GL450 pins are located in a different position, also, any of the slide holders match your bumper, you need to remove all the slide holders, pins from the new part, you can cut with clippes or anything sharp that you can cut this pieces, be patience, remember you are working on a chrome plastic piece, you don't want to bend the entire piece !!

If you have a dremel is alot easier, I use a dremel, use a cutter wheel, then sand with the dremel all the sharp pieces till flush the much as you can. Do not overheat the plastic, you can cause a chrome discoloration, you don't want that on a $$$ plastic part. Simply, be patience.

After clean up, you will use a double side 3M tape, you can get it at any auto store, clean the part with alcohol (just where tape will be installed), also clean up the bumper with alcohol, remove all wax/oil around the pre-existing holes on your bumper (holes where the black plastic piece was set). Install the 3M tape all around (only by the edge, not need in the middle or across)of your new part.
Again, the folowing pictures will show the old part, plastic pins/screw location.

When you are ready to install, do not remove the red plastic from the 3M tape, messure first, place the chrome piece the way it shoul be, press firmly, on 3M tape, just twist the corners of the red plastic, pulling it out about 3 inches, make sure red plastic show in between plastic plate an bumper, so when trim piece is on place, you will pull the red plastic from the tape, try not to move the chrome plate, press firmly, then you will be enjoying yur new look !! I foun a trick to line out the chrome plate, line out the center line of the chrome plate with the hood latch, the center is the line #9, I post a picture to help you. Piece of cake !!

When you remove the red plactic from the 3M tape, you need to start from back to front, push firmly, pull the tape firmly slowly, if you remove all the plastic from the 3M tape before place the chrome plate in place will be hard to remove it if you made any mistake, make sure all red plastic tips show in between (bumper-chrome plate), if not part will be almost attach when you realise that you need to remove one more pice of plastic that is already under the part

What about wheels? I have the opportunity to pick between the two.

20"s will be for sale (on SUV) TPM's included, tires 95%. One set of AMG's will be for sale (first picture PN A164 401 4302) tires 65-75% PM me any question.

both AMG genuine, not a big difference. different style, very hard to choice between the two.

PN A164 401 4302

My pick... I think the first AMG version look more sport-SUV, I like it, but I choice this version (picture bellow) because look's more sport to me. difference between the two? nothing big, I can use the others with no problems. Weight is about the same.

Older 550 wheels = more elegant

Newer 550 wheels = more aggressive

I'm a bigger fan of the earlier design on a GL

After seeing the pictures, I also ordered same weathertech liner. For the front seats, are the anchor connectors on the linear removable such that i could use the anchor on the original mat to secure the mat and liner in place?

Your right, also I think older AMG look's better for off road, snow, etc. I don't drive in this conditions 99% city I pick the newer style "more agressive".... also price is more agressive too !!

The weathertech liners anchor connectors just fits perfect on SUV anchor connectors, liner is secure, in place, fit like a glove.

It is alot of concern about GL550 wheels on a GL450, difference is GL550 have a fender flares also offset of wheels are a little dfferent (+/- 7), after replace the GL450 wheels for a GL550 this is the result... I don't think I need a feder flares..

The GL and E AMG are apples and oranges. Not the same at all. Totally different vehicles and purposes but I'm sure you'll find the GL pretty decent at highway speeds for its size and weight.
