GL320 RunFlat Alternative
I have an '09 w/ the 20" Goodyear LS-2 Run Flats (275/50/20).
Growing weary of spending $2000+ for tires, I'm looking for alternatives, but find there are shockingly few options in an all-season 275/50/20, regardless if they are run flats or not - only the original Goodyears and Bridgestone Duelers (which have mixed to negative reviews).
Does anyone have EXPERIENCE (no hearsay, please) putting 275/55/20's on the GL? There are many more options in that size - wondering if the slightly larger diameter causes any problems. I know about the slight speedo error (mine already reads a bit fast anyway, so this would help). Just curious about clearances at full lock, etc.
I'm also considering just getting a set of OEM 18" or 19" GL rims and fitting something with a higher sidewall for better ride (the 20" run flats are awful). Honestly, I don't care about the run-flat option - too many trade-off in cost and ride quality - I can carry a spare or keep one in the garage!

Another option for you is 285/50/20. A lot cheaper and lots of choices. Search this forum and you will find many answers to your question.

FWIW, I find the Duelers RFT's to be a slightly better (ride, noise, comfort) tire than the Goodyears, and they're "only" about $1100 per set.
Been wanting to drive a GL w/ADS and standard 20" tires to see how much better the ride actually is...

Bridgestone Replacements
I have a 2010 GL320 with the Goodyears and an 2009 ML320 with the Bridgestones. I just recently replaced the Bridgestones with another set on my ML. The original ones lasted 46,000 miles. Got a new set for about $1100. I realize they a slightly different size but when the time comes I will replace my run flat Goodyears with Moextended Bridgestones.
