soon to be a cls55 or 63

Been a lurker for awhile. Looks as if we are finially going to get our first MB. I am trading in my 2012 Jeep srt-8 for a 2010/11 GL450 or 550. My wifes denali is getting older and I don't like her taking long hauls with the kids in it. So I thought I would take her car and buy her something better. Then in a year I would like to pick up a 2010 C63, then the family would be complete.

I am test driving a couple tommorrow and will have a good opinion on what we like best. But I was wondering if you guys could fill me in on anything that I should be looking for. I originally wanted a 350 but the wifey is not much of a diesel fan. Is it worth getting a 08/09 550 or a 09/10/11 450? I am trying to stay around 45 with a warranty. I am in the process of building a house so I would like to keep my payments as low as possible for a year or so. Thanks!

Those of us, who drive 320/350, it is not about being a "fan" of diesel. Its about all great things diesel engines can offer. I would never get a 450 over 320, as long as I have access to a quality diesel fuel.

2011 E-350, 2010 GL-450
Welcome to the forum!

I made a simular choice just two weeks ago. Traded the wife's GMC Acadia in for a 2010 GL-450. This is our second Benz, I have a new E-350 and was so impressed with the quality that I vowed to get her one as well.

Personally, I would never own a diesel. The cost of diesel fuel is significantly higher than even premium gas and you have to be able to find it. Yes, they get better mileage, but it does not offset the higher price of fuel. But, to each their own.

My only suggestion is to try really hard to get a Certified Pre Owned Benz. Repairs on these cars border on criminal.
