Going rate for MB extended warranty?
Hi all,
Looking for some expert opinions on extending my original factory warranty (4 year + 50k miles) on my 2009 GL550 (it is going to expire in April 2013). I only have 36k miles and am the original owner, no accidents and all of my service appointments have been handled by the MB dealership from which I purchased the vehicle.
Biz Mgr at dealership is offering an add'l 3 years + 25k more miles (75k mile total) for total price of $3,120.
Is this ballpark reasonable to pay for an MB extended warranty? If I'm going to buy one, I really don't want to buy a 3rd party extended warranty and prefer it to be MB. Just don't want to get gouged.
I've had enough issues with the truck that I feel the warranty would probably be a smart purchase but just want to make sure I get it for a fair price.
Thanks in advance for any input from those who have experience in this.

Sounds like a reasonable price based on what i was offered last year, the price and miles were the same for my MB offer but it was for only two years not three, based on your previous mileage experince the three years would be of benefit. Others experiences will differ, especially if you have the skill and time to perform some repairs on your own, however i would have already broke even on the warranty had i purchased it (16K past factory warranty).

That is what I just paid the dealer for 2 years or 25,000 miles on my GL320 that has 48500 miles on it and was still under factory waranty.

Franman,
Suggest you contact Travis at: Teastman@mbofelmbrook.com, 262-821-5000 ext349.
Peruse this thread: MB Extended Warranty
I just got off the phone with him and purchased a 7/125. I think he'll give you a substantially better deal.
Good luck

Like EugKim, we contacted Travis. We also got a 7/125 at a great price and the process was painless.
We've already had all four mounts, the back-up camera and the steering column replaced under warranty and didn't want to take any chances with so many electronics in this car.

Make sure extended warranty covers known issues w/ GL
Ext warranty a must. Make sure the coverage includes the air struts and compressor. May ext warranties exclude this...
