"jet engine" noise when driving 30+ mph

Hey, I have a 2007 GL 450 and there are no messages or indicators on my instrument cluster, I have new 20 inch after-market rims, and new Cooper tires for the snow. I had my car shipped from CA to NC but now there is a distinct noise when I drive 30+ mph. It sounds like a loud fan or jet engine while I'm driving but it goes away when I slow down to stop. I also stepped on the gas while on park and tried to listen for the sound again but it doesn't happen.

Here are a couple videos to hear the sound I am talking about, you have to listen closely for the loud "hum" in the background...

Can somebody please help me out and explain whats happening and what to do so I can do something to prevent my baby from breaking down???

As you go down the road and the noise is present - slightly turn the wheel one way for a second or two then the other way... Does the noise change? If it does it is tires or bearing. If it doesn't it is something else.

My bet is tires. Coopers are noisy.

Your tires are most likely cupped but a wheel bearing could be going out. Checking the tires is easy. Take your hand and feel along the inside and outside top edges and see if it feel smooth going both directions or does your hand catch on an edge. If it catches or is not smooth, your tires are cupped.

Checking for a bad bearing usually requires you to lift your car up and pull out and push in on the wheel assembely. If there is any play, it is your wheel bearing. If like you say is as loud as a jet engine, it's probably a wheel bearing. The failing bearing can be very loud. I had to replace the back passenger side wheel bearing at approx 100,000 miles. Replace it before it destroys your hub.

From the description, I also assumed it was LOUD, and if it is LOUD it is BAD, and need to be looked at quickly.

The noise doesn't change and I even drove it through a backroad with winding roads so I could turn longer on both sides...

It's hard to tell from the video but at first blush it sounds like noisy tires. I had some Cooper's on my previous Jeep Grand Cherokee and they sounded very similar.

How much does that usually cost per wheel ? It is the front passenger wheel bearing and it's gonna cost me $450...

From the noise, I would guess tires.

What do they look like?
