Replaced Conductor plate but....

My gl450 with 97K miles was brought in to replace the conductor plate in the valve body. I have one of the transmissions that only the conductor plate needs to be replaced. The dealer replaced the plate but they are saying its having some rough shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. They have had it for 2 days now and I'm getting worried. Any ideas what could be causing this? They thought is was the adaptations of the new conductor plate but this doesn't seem to be the problem. They are trying a bunch of things that Mercedes Corporate has them doing.

Some conductor plates even if loaded with the config / coding of the old conductor plate never mate to the old valve body. Make sure all code versions are identical and matching. If that does not fix it... I suggest obtaining a factory matched new valve body and plate kit.

Thanks. Do you think they will make me pay for the matching valve body and plate kit? Or just the conductor plate that I agreed to replace. Should I push for them to pay for this and I just pay for the conductor plate. I'm surprised they haven't mentioned this or Mercedes Corp. hasn't mentioned replaced the valve body and plate as a set.

What is the cost + labor you think for replacing whole kit?

Mercedes called and they need to replace valve body. They tried cleaning the solenoids on some of valve body but that didn't work. It's only rough shifting going to 2nd to 3rd gear. The service manager and lead mechanic is pretty sure this will fix it. I hope so because they said the next step is new transmission! I can't imagine at 90k it would need a new transmission but you bet I will be screaming at Mercedes USA if this is the case.

Now - make sure they replace both valve body and plate as a matching set. Do not replace just the valve body and mate it to the new just replaced plate as they will be mismatched again.

I guess I should called them back. Can you buy the valve body without plate?
