Tailgate Will Not Open
#27
Sorry for the dumb question, but will the software update be over the air or do I have to take it in for them to update?
Thanks!

GL Tail Gate
GL 350 tail gate would not open with key fob, latch or switch on drivers side door. Opened with key and would close but could not reopen. I called dealer and they were unaware of this issue on GL's. I read forum comment regarding ambient lighting conflict with tail gate. I reset my ambient lighting to factory setting of 5 and the latch resumed working. Called dealer again and mentioned forum post regarding this issue and MB software patch.
Wow!!

2013 Mercedes Benz GL350 (X166)
Tailgate won't open
My 2013 Mercedes Benz GL350's tailgate won't open. Ever since I got my puncture fixed in my rear passenger side tyre (I'm in Australia so the US drivers side) and now it won't open at all no matter where try it from (key, door, drivers side button) doesn't even budge.
The tyre repair guy said he saw some coming from the door but I believe he broke it.
any idea of what to do?
Would be kindly appreciated

MB GLS550/BMW 550/2017 Acura NSX
Our GL350 has tailgate issues too. It only opens about 50% of the time; no matter what button you push to activate it. The 50% that it doesn't open, it will "pop" open but won't lift up, so have to lift it manually.
Waiting until next service appt to get it fixed.

Tail gate won't open
GL 450 2014
My Tailgate would not open with key fob, latch or switch on drivers side door.
Need 2 visit at the dealer.
1st: Relearn the rear latch with the computer. It work for 2 days and then stop to open again.
2nd visit: They change the rear latch complete set, then it is ok now.
After 3 week, it is still working. https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

All: My GL450 x166 Rear Liftgate will not open/close. It latches or unlatches just fine. The electric motor comes on and runs for 3-4 seconds and then stops. The door does not move. I can manually raise or lower after the lift motor stops running. Is there a reset or way to engage the lift mechanism?

Help
The power lift gate stopped working again on our 2013 GL550. This is the second failure and the shop has been trying to resolve this issue all week with no success. They replaced the latch (again) and also replaced the lift motor but it continues to fail when the vehicle is on a slight incline. They are stumped and have reported the problem directly to Mercedes-Benz corporate who is talking with the engineers in Germany.
If anyone else has experienced issues with their 166 lift-gates, please post your comments. This may be more wide-spread than we know.
The number of days in the shop are beginning to add up for a brand new $93,000 SUV. I've never had to file a lemon-law case but the thought has occurred to me.
