There is value in a relationship that's for sure. I have bought 3 MB's from the same dealer and usually get within dollars of what I think is the best deal. However, the 2013 GL350 was different. They told me the car is at sticker, minus my fleet discount. Non-negotiable since they only had one GL350 allocation remaining. If I wanted to let the market settle, we could negotiate. I'm not sure the market has settled yet on these GL350's.

That's because you have built a relationship with the dealership and you're a repeat customer with multiple purchases, i.e. they make money off of you each time. Not every one can make purchases of 27 new cars in their lifetime, or even more than 2-3 from the same dealer. Some people just
can't afford to go through cars every few years with the latest model, so
unfortunately I don't think dealers can do this just for everyone.

In fact, MB has been using my dealer as a model for others as to how to build a "customer base."

So does anyone know how much over invoice their Costco pricing was for a GL350? I just checked on the Costco site and apparently the GL350 is no longer even eligible....weird? We placed our order way back when 2014s weren't even out yet, so not sure if that mattered...anyway, interested to hear what others have experienced. Thanks!

How exactly does one get a fleet discount?
I ran the members for my 350 on USAA website and it came up with $2902 off msrp, thats including $2000.
Need to know quick as car will be here in a few days

Unfortunately, the dealer is only obligated to give you the $2k off if u read the fine print. My dealer would not give me any additional off. However, I went with my local dealership because they got my car faster than anyone else could and they offer a lot of perks (loaner Mercedes, car washes, airport shuttles, etc)

I agreed to a 6% discount, which brought the price to about the published invoice amount, which I imagine does not fully disclose the real revenue to the dealership for selling a $100K car. I'm usually very tough on purchase price, but this car is still in demand and limited production supply, so this price represented little more than defraying the "drive off" and lease inception costs so I wasn't out of pocket for the first 30 days. Good enough for my purposes and we wanted the SUV in the driveway, ready to go into service as our snow taxi, not waiting till the spring to perhaps grind a better deal by another thou or so.
Given how poorly the details fit together in the 2014 GL 550, I'm pretty sure this one won't be in our hands too long and I do expect to replace it with the mid-life update, which I trust will bring fixes to all the various foibles of this model.

there are multiple methods to get the fleet discount, American Medical Association, USAA, perhaps Costco in some locations, I personally get fleet through my employer - a large computer company.

Limited allocation for 2014
I have been dealing with 3 dealers in the Atlanta area, and apparently MB USA has cut down allocations for 2014 by 1500 units (for all GL models, not just the 350). This is in response to 1500+ GLs beings exported last year. So discounts are much harder to come along, but consider that you are still paying 30-40% less than Europeans do

I contacted dealers in CA., CO., Texas on 2014 GL 350 BT. No discounts from any of dealers. Inquired about GL 450. MSRP was $80,500, paid $74,000. Ordered in November and will arrive Jan.15th. Really wanted 350 BT but did the math and at today's diesel and premium fuel prices, driving 15m miles per year, and considering 25 mpg BT and 19 450 I think I calculated break even at 5 or 6 years. I don't keep a car that long so I decided to go with GL450. Also, the build date was out in February for a 350 BT if I would have ordered one. That is my recent experience for what it's worth.

GL550
I just ordered a GL550 today for delivery in March. The local dealer would not negotiate below the $2000 USAA. I got $5,500 off by ordering from a dealer 3 hours away.

I bought the 550, custom ordered through costco-dealer in chicago land area. Costco deal is 1500 above invoice for all 2014 GL. Keep in mind that fleet program CAN BE combined to sweetened the deal. I use the AMA fleet program. My final price: $500 below invoice for a customed 550.

I have inquired about the Costco pricing again because I was told the discount was $2500 above invoice, contrary to the poster who said $1500. Well, it turns out that $2500 is the correct number and unfortunately the Costco discount doesn't even apply anymore to GLs. You can go to the Costco Auto website and see for yourself. Pretty amazing how in demand these cars are....

I think it all depends on the dealer and what level of volume/allocation they churn. I have a GL550 on order, built to my spec, and with barely any effort on my part got 5.5% off MSRP (in this case approx $5,600 discount). This is my second vehicle with this sales rep and dealership, and he's their Internet sales consultant. Also just found out today my car is out of production, got the VIN, and told to expect delivery within next 2 weeks. Ordered at the end of November and got lucky that my dealer had a first decade January build allocation still open to mod at the time.
