Quick question in regards to windshield wiper fluid
Hey everyone,
Due to the recent snow days in NY I've been using the fluid more often than usual and now I need to replenish it. Does MB have a requirement of windshield wiper fluid? Or can I go pick up any ole windshield wiper fluid? I know bmw use to require ONLY bmw fluids and if the fluids weren't used it could ruin this and that etc and usually I would think that a whole bunch or malarkey but a family member told me this.... But thank you for your time. Greatly appreciate the help!

I'm in the same boat with the splash-back from recent snow storms. I'm eagerly awaiting the answer to see if I need some kind of MB certified washer fluid or if I can use the RainX deicer/antifreeze fluid that I typically use.

I'm using regular windshield fluid. Bought in BJ's a box with 6 of them inside. This is my third GL and I use the same fluid on all of them, never had any issues.

Anyway I usually use any fluid (RAINX\Windex) but I also put in 1 bottle of Summer Fit along with WinterFit Part# A002986147109 it is a great stuff and you can smell the good smell of Alcohol when you spray, I been using these 2 along with any washer fluid from last 5-6 years and never had any issue in any of my cars along with 07GL and 15GL.
Winterfit may be hard to get by the dealer but you can always ask them order it for you each bottle at dealer cost me $10.00

Well... a couple of things...
Einzsett Kristal Klar = 7 gallons per bottle... same as MB "SummerFit" but more concentrated:
http://www.autogeek.net/1z-einszett-...ncentrate.html
Einszett Anti-Frost (WinterFit) but much larger bottle...
http://www.autogeek.net/einszett-ant...her-fluid.html
Do a google - may be available from other internet vendors - it all has to do with shipping/handling - but these size concetrate bottles very easy to keep in your rig.
Purified or distalled water mix is best - basically because that is ph neutral - versus tap/hose water runs generally alkali ...
Like Krstall - even with "most" handling charges comes out to like $3 a gallon..
If you want to get freaky.. #2 Novus polish - the greatest thing to have around for "general" cleaning/polish and paint scrape/transfer - buff marks etc - or as light polish on glass - pea size application (after wipe with damp microfiber to remove residue)... fine diatomaceous earth in suspension actually not a scouring agent like rougher compounds..
Keep the beat !

Sorry my broken english not so good. I from south america.
One shoudl only use glass cleaner fluid mixed with water harvested from location high in the himalayan mountains by Nepalese monks. It is not only purity that is important but location from which comes and the spirit of those who harvest it. Also, a squirt of milk in the water from the teat of a Tibetan fox has proven to lubricate the inner workings of the washer fluid pump.

Prestone Washer fluid
I have had excellent luck with Prestone Deicer. It is an excellent windshield washer fluid in below freezing conditions and is about $3 per gallon from Wal Mart. Unlike Rain-X, it seems to work fine in the Mercedes washer system.

Go by a place that sells methanol as race fuel. It's pretty cheap. The winter blend should be 50/50 methanol to water while the summer blend can be 25% methanol. It's the same as what you get in the store for $2 to $3 per gallon. If you like rainx, mix some directly in with your blend.

The best way is to stop by the dealer for PIT STOP
Anyway I usually use any fluid (RAINX\Windex) but I also put in 1 bottle of Summer Fit along with WinterFit Part# A002986147109 it is a great stuff and you can smell the good smell of Alcohol when you spray, I been using these 2 along with any washer fluid from last 5-6 years and never had any issue in any of my cars along with 07GL and 15GL.
Winterfit may be hard to get by the dealer but you can always ask them order it for you each bottle at dealer cost me $10.00
