Price advice

Hi guys and gals,

I am new to this board and I may soon be new to MB as well, so I hope I can find some good advice here:

In about 3 hours I have an appointment to look at a CPO 2014 GL350. It is heavily optioned, with an MSRP of 85K. Dealer is currently asking 55K.
How much off that price could I expect to negotiate reasonably? I think I'm willing to pay that much, but OTD, which would include all of the dealer fees and sales tax of 7%.... Do you think that's reasonable?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Are you paying cash, financing, trading in? How many miles on the CPO?

Financing probably half of the price. Not trading in, 33K miles on the CPO.

Look at the Carfax and see how long it has been sitting. Meantime, the asking price is a similar markdown to what they wanted for our '14 ML350 CPO with 30.4k on the clock. MSRP $68.5k, asking $41.5k. $27k less. Yours is $30k less. A little harder to compare since we did a trade in, but we started out at $15.5 plus our car plus tt&l. They countered at $17.7k. We counter at $16.5k. They counter at $17k and we took it, plus tt$l. We did a little better on the sales tax due to the trade. OTD for $18k and our car. So we didn't get much off basis the asking price (-$700), but we also saved $1.5K in sales tax. If it were me, I'd start out at say $50.5k plus tt&l and hope to settle at $53k plus ttl. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Read the next to last (penultimate?) post in this thread. Also ask to see The Vehicle Master Inquiry. It'll tell you everything that was done to the car by MB since Day 1.

Thank you very much. I saw and test drove the car and really liked it. However, the only discount the dealer would agree to was $1,000.
I passed and I'll either wait for them to reconsider, or I'll be moving on.
Thanks for the info though. The journey is not over yet.

Catching a high-option '14 GL with 30k miles for any price is difficult. CPO takes some of the concern away with higher mileage. Surf around here tonight while we in Houston rattle our rosary beads for the Texans in Foxboro. https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/cpo

Bro, I hate the Pats and the last thing I want to see is them winning another SB, but tonight may be very ugly for you...

A gaggle of MB's
On the rig - with the options list - I suggest you check edmunds.com as a 3rd party valuse guide - for their benchmark price as a impartial 3rd party.

Go to mbusa.com - under Certified Pre-Owned - do a region/area/national search for any likely comp's.

January is a stronger pre-owned sales month than new-car-sales month - and smarter MB dealers put their CPO inventory up on the web at "aggressive" price-to-market - rather than low-high - to attract wider area/wider$ of buyers.

Is the next service 40K miles - correct ? The reason I ask at 40K miles fuel filter for diesels is due - and some other 40K stuff - so a 2-pack/3-pack ppd service would give a bit of savings over a-la-carte.
