Called dealer today, they said still no fix, they are waiting for MB, not that bulletin. But it is warm in the south now, so it is not screaming everyday.

After they replaced both the front and back rotors and pads a few months ago I still have the problem. I called the dealer today and they said MB is working on a fix and should have something later this month... fingers crossed!

Past couple of weeks been noticing my brakes are squealing when going forward and coming to a full stop. The squeal is pretty loud that you hear it in the cabin even with windows up. Recorded it here -

Side concern is that I found the brakes on the GLC 43 can be 'inefficient' when trying to brake to a stop. Sometimes, when I expect the brakes to stop already, it still doesn't want to stop and gets too close to the car in front me. My driving/braking style has not change and I do not experience this on my other cars. Any one have this issue? AMG Sports brakes (not performance like the 'real' AMGs)

Sending the car in to the dealer next week for further investigation.

You will hear more noises from now on as you use brakes more.
I am waiting for the new fix and parts which will be arrived by the end of this month, and hope it resolves the problem.
You should immediately open up a case by calling to MBUSA and let them know about the issue too.

I think it is whole GLC problem and amazing how all GLC drivers are so patient.
We are just too nice people.

Well... for US owner's ... you didn't hear from me... the Rear Brake tech bulletin has been pre-released - official tech bulletin should go out Mon/Tues next week.

However rear brake parts will be back ordered till July... and front brake parts are now on backorder till July as well

If anyone confirms different - please post back to the board...

Keep the beat !

Are these different from the bulletins/fixes issued at the end of Dec?

It was very cold today, about 20F and they were screeching even going forward. First time it has happened. Only 3k miles on this car so far.

Called my long island dealer. They said it's a known issue but they could NOT do anything now and are still waiting for a solution from MB USA. Email MB USA, they replied and kicked the ball back, recommending brining the car to the dealer to diagnose. Good job MB!

Where is your dealership location?
I am in Chicago area, and parts will not be available until the end of this month.
Hope they come sooner and I can replace my brake pad.

Any updates on the screeching brakes?

Hi

I took delivery of my GLC in Jan 2016. As of last week I have the same screeching sound that everyone is complaining about. Has anyone successfully had this fixed?

My wife reported her first squealing brakes incident Wednesday after sitting out in temps just above freezing for a couple hours. (MY 2017, 800 miles.)

Reported squealing brakes while going through A service. SA acknowledged the issue. I will receive the fix as soon as parts become available. I am in the queue.

My SA put me in as soon as parts become available. Mine started few months back and is just as young as yours.

Was at a convention over the weekend in Boston. MBUSA had 2 vehicles there and I asked the people representing them about the issue. They were from corporate and indicated like others have said its a known problem with no solution as of yet. One of them assured me it was not a safety issue to which I replied I understand but its very annoying. They said many people complained about brake dust so the pads are supposed to reduce dust but screech. They also mentioned they had a similar problem a few years ago on another model (I don't remember which one they said) and that has been resolved. They thanked me for buying the GLC and gave me a pen. I'd rather have a quiet car.

I don't get any dust or squealing on the Discovery sport, maybe they should find out what brake pads are used on it.

I, and others, have had the same issue with the W205 (C Class, 2015 to present). I've had my car in to resolve it at least 3 times. I've also been told that MB is working on a solution and that it is a known problem with the C and the GLC. I wonder if the brake parts are the same?

I just completed my manufacturer buy back of my GLC. I have dealt with the screeching brakes issues for over a year, with multiple attempts to fix including new pads and rotors. I was told by my dealer that they are about 5 weeks away from identifying a permanent fix, but then the parts would need to be manufactured, which could take another 6 months. It's and issue with the GLC and C class. I had the issue with both the front and rear brakes. I decided to do the buy back given I had no confidence in this getting addressed relatively quickly and customer support during this issue has been horrible. I really liked my GLC, but for $50K, you shouldn't have to deal with this type of problems. My neighbors will be a lot happier now that my car is gone.

Wow - congrats on getting approved for the buyback. We had the screaching brakes the for a year too, but when they replaced the front brakes last month it stopped. Sure hope it stays that way, as we really like the car otherwise.

TScott,
Please explain the buyback process. We want to get rid of our GLC, but don't want to sell it for a big loss.
