i just picked up my GLK today. but I realized in the cargo compartment cover blind is missing from the trunk. So I asked the sales guy, and he told me its not standard its an optional equipment. is this true?

Where are you located?
I remember seeing somewhere that it is standard equipment everywhere now, and that someone else previously took delivery of their GLK without the cover and after some calls to MBUSA she was given one.

Best place to look is on the window sticker, if it states that there should be a cargo cover, then you have a beef with the dealership. I attempted to check online and in the brochure but nothing is mentioned. In the past when the w164 ML and R class came out the cover wasn't standard and was part of the P1 Package, it was later added as standard equipment. Wouldn't surprise me if the first year for the GLK is the same way.

so Im guessing its up to the dealership if they want to throw the cover in or not. damn dealership always finding way to make money off us. Im gonna go back and get this cover from him.
yea I just bought a used loaner car. and i looked at carfax, it said that my car was registered in june 2009 by the dealership as first owner. so not bad I got a half year old car =) w/ existing warranty plus 1year CPO warranty

I had to call MBusa and ask them about it. After looking up my vehicle, they said it is standard and that I needed to call my dealership and inform them accordingly. Then the dealership provided one for me free of charge...I purchased my car in October 09

My GLK arrived in the US from Germany in December last year, and it had the cargo cover.
I was all ready to fight for one at delivery. Then the sales guy popped the trunk and it was there... very melodramatic...

Because I'm not a GLK owner, I didn't want to say it was standard for sure, but I assumed it would be. I've seen new vehicles come in and sometimes the rear covers are just laying in the back and not installed. So sometimes during the prep of the vehicle the cover gets taken out and gets misplaced or they just forget to put it back in.

Just went through Westminster's site and all their GLK's including the base models have the cover in the back according to their photos. So I guess its safe to say its standard in the States.

I went back to the dealership, and i told him its included as a standard. but he still kept on denying. so then I went over to one of the showroom GLKs and open the trunk. GUESS WHAT there's the cover, and I show it to him and also showed him that on the sticker there was no mention of the cover what so ever. its just part of the car. after all that, he still wouldn't give it to me, because her said there wasn't any to grab. I was like, why don't u grab one from ur parts department? then he changed the subject. what an jackass!!! so I told him i'm gonna get that cover one way or the other. and I left.
can anybody shine a light on this situation?

I had the exact same problem...I knew it was standard, but the dealership wouldn't budge. Call MBUSA (1-800-FOR-MERCEDES) and explain the situation. They will tell you exactly where in your specs it says that you are supposed to get a cargo cover. Then call your dealership's parts department and tell them exactly what MBUSA tells you. That should get the ball back in your court...It worked for me in November...

Yea take Meg's advice and call MBUSA to get your cover, IMO buying any car in the form of an SUV/hatch that requires a cover regardless of make, should be standard equipment. It's not like MB has luxury cargo covers, it's BS!

Not true! Ours along with about a dozen cars that were on the lot at our dealership came standard with it. Call the dealer or MBUSA and demand it.... some reported the error and were able to get one. Do you live in the States? It's standard unless it's not on the very low end base model.

same here, there were package and option reshuffles a few months after, so things kept changing. Prolly it became standard at some point but it wasn't initially, not that I really care, windows have enough tint, and I don't park in areas where I have to care.

well in this case its all about the "principles." think about it like this. how would u like it if u just spent whole lot of $$$$ and u feel the sales person been lying to u and finding ways to rip u off. I guess the sales guy didn't care about the result as long as he makes money off u. and not to say this sales guy PROMISED to provide u with extremely good service if u buy from him. haha guess its all talk after the contracts been signed.

What principle? While I can understand that IF you bought a NEW car and found out that it would have come with cover...but you are buying a used car that originally didn't come with it standard. Was it advertized as having the cover? In that case, yea, you should get it. Otherwise, it's like buying a used car and saying well now the same car comes with navigation standard, does it mean dealer should retrofit one?

When you buy used, you buy "as is". Unless it was advertised differently, you are likely SOL!
I agree that in the interest of keeping the relationship they should probably just give you one... but with that said, I don't think they are in any way obliged to.
