Aftermarket Ultrasonic Backup Alarm Installed
I am very pleased to have installed the "Professional OEM Car Rear 4 Sensor Parking System" from Sports Imports (LB01-4-MF1, $59.95, sportsimportsltd.com). It works great. This unit has provision for a dash display, but I decided to only use the audible warning beeper mounted in the rear compartment. That precludes the need for a wire running to the front of the vehicle.
The sensors mount in the plastic of the bumper (see photos.) The only tricky part was making sure that there is no steel structure behind the holes that you drill for the sensors using the hole saw that is included with the kit. The photos show locations which are OK, but check with small pilot holes from upward and under the lip before you drill the real sensor holes to make sure you are in a proper location. I found that I needed to ream out the sensor holes an additional amount to allow the sensors to fully be inserted in the holes. I painted the black sensors with a spray paint that matches the Barolo Red of my 2010 and mounted the control unit in the spare wheel well.
I also later mounted a Curt Hitch and PWM Converter. See a separate post.

Yes. On my '10, here are the color of wires on the driver side tail light assembly:
Brown: Ground
Blue/Grey: Reverse (used on my ultrasonicn backup alarm)
Black/Red: tail light only bulb
Green: ?? Not sure -- fluctuates with turn signal, but use the Black/White below
Black/White: Left Turn
Pink: PWM tail and brake bulb
On the passenger side the turn signal is Black/Green.
I placed the control unit for it in the spare wheel well as seen in the photo which you can see by going to

Sensor
I have a 2015 GLK. With the yype electrical system for the backup light for my car, can I still connect it directly to the wire for it? I've read that installing a trailer hitch wiring system requires something "special".
Thx,
Denis

I have a 2015 GLK 350. Has anyone installed the Professional OEM Car Rear 4 Sensor Parking System" from Sports Imports (LB01-4-MF1, $59.95, sportsimportsltd.com on a GLK, and was it necessary to remove the rear bumber to install the sensors?
Thanks in advance,
Denis
