Open hood.
Stand in the center of the dash and face the windshield.
On the rear side of the vertical black rubber seal just left (passenger side) of the centerline of the engine is a pale green round plastic handle.
That is the dipstick. Read the manual. It contains an illustration showing the dipstick.
Apprach the dipstick from the right front fender to the rear of the headlight. Be careful of belt buckles, etc. on the fender. Lean over and extract the wire "stick".
New Mobil 1 is invisible.

2012 manual online. Page 239. The top of the dip wire looks different. Flat top-no loop.

Danke.
Funny thing, when I first got the car I did find that green stick. When I started to pull it out it was so freaking long I figured it must be for the transmission. Ha!
Find anything more about the specific towing parts you believe we're supposed to get from MB? I'm still puzzled.
What additional towing parts/accessories did you get from Volvo? Could you please post some images?

I give up. Where is the battery? What is the 710 cap?
1972 Volvo-dealer installed the factory hitch with a 2" ball and European lighting to US lighting connector.
2004 Volvo-similar installation by dealer.
M-B needs a lesson in providing complete towing solutions. The brake controller omission is the most serious. Why should you have to rip into the wiring to connect something that should be plug and play?

Nope. No tranny tube. The trailer connection is a Class II which is a 1 1/4 square tube with a 1 7/8 ball for a maximum of 3500 pounds. There's no brake controller because that weight trailer usually has surge brakes if any. The stability control system senses the trailer and controls yaw and surge.
