GLK350 Engine Oil and Oil filter

Hi All, I am driving GLK 350 4matic 2012. I used to change the engine oil in the BENZ dealer but I am a bit away from the dealer. I'm thinking of changing engine oil in the Walmart. What kinds engine oil can I buy and is there any engine oil filter? I have changed the engine oil once a year.

Thank you for your suggestions in advance.

I tried to get a quick oil change at a Walmart once. Even though they had the proper oil and filter in the store, they didn't have it in the auto center. Consequently, they refused to change my oil. What a miserable operation.

I would buy the oil in the store and bring it to the shop and say, "Here use my oil"
The shop has bulk oil and they don't use enough Mobil 1 0-40 Euro formula to make it worth keeping in bulk. Don't be too hard on them. How could they do the job? wander into the store and pick it up off the shelf? That would be a fun bill.
I would buy the 5 quart bottles when they're on sale. 8 quarts isn't cheap. You can bring it with you whenever you plan on another shop doing the work.
It would have been far worse if they had said, "Sure, wheel it in" and then put an non-229.5 oil in your car.

You can't buy the correct oil filter @ WalMart. Oil yes. Mobil 1 foreign car formula 0W-40. Filter must be "fleece oil filter" Best to buy @ MB dealer.

I like buying from Amazon followed by AutohausAz then Google for sales on the Mann or Hengst fleece filters. They are less than $10 at Amazon including taxes, shipping, etc. The dealer is usually over $15. Amazon is good with a fitment wizard to make sure you don't buy the wrong filter. It's pretty good and around $8 or $9 and less in bulk.

Consider

getting an oil extractor and doing the job yourself. I check the oil colour and "feel" - if it gets icky between dealer visits I extract and replace.

I do this on our 13 GLK and my Gwagen. I buy 0-40 at Walmart in bulk. I have an air compressor so I have an oil extractor that hooks up to it. Get the oil hot and suck it out. Make sure you use a MB or a Hengst and Mann fleece filter.

As the oil is being sucked out i check the air filters or do other things of which I am capable. I donate the used oil to a local business who burns it for heat.

Of course we take the GLK to the dealer for the scheduled service for warranty purposes. But we bring our own oil and filter. We use Techron not BG that the dealers want to press on you but will violate your MB warranty.
