You know what it feels when this happens to you.....
Wife called me a few hours ago to tell me our son is missing from the street where she park and was asking for my help to find him. After calling the local towing company I was told that they received a silver glk that was involved on some kind of a accident so my heart started to pound a zillion times per second upon hearing that from the towing company. Called wife and she told me she was just finished talking to the police and our car was on fire. Now I was on a panic mode and dropped whatever I was doing and went to pick her up. We went to the towing company and they said we cannot see our car not until Monday as they cannot allow public in their lot on the weekends and it was already past 9pm. So I decided to go to the spot where she parked the car and this is what I saw....a block long of foam on the floor. Now I cannot imgagine what our son looks like and it is killing both me and my wife now.

I don't know. We have no idea of what happened. We will try to get more info today. Hopefully we can talk to the lot attendant and get a quick look and grab our personal stuff inside the car today.

By the looks of it it looks like something burned inside the dash/glovebox area. I looked at the engine bay and nothing looks burned there except for the air intake on the right corner of the windshield. My ipod, CDs, a small booklet of my client contacts, service documents and other small things that I can't remember are now gone. I think something electrical did this....maybe my ipod or worst my cheap aftermarket cellphone charger.

Did you have Navigation? If so, it appears to be missing. You sure someone did not break into the car and while stealing the Nav screen, didn't set off the air bag and that cause the area to catch fire?

Why on earth did you phrase this as my "son" is missing??? It's your car not your son
How ridiculous... And you have a car seat in the back... Yeesh
As a father of three little kids my heart was pounding as I read through this thread until I realized the op has no tact in how he refers to his hunk of metal glk ...

I know you think you were just being dramatic but please...

Ok sorry for being dramatic but that is how I feel for my ride with all the elbow grease and countless of hours making the car shine, keeping the crayola smell interior intact then in a few minutes it is gone. I know for most of you guys it is just a car and yes it is just a car but for me it is more than that and I am emotionally attached to it. So forgive me for being so dramatic as you can take away all of my material pocessions without me saying a word but touch my car and try doing something unfriendly to it and I will make sure you will regret it.
The nav screen is still there well part of it as it got melted. I am not really sure if there was a break-in. I asked my wife repeatedly, which we did had a little husband and wife argument about this incident, if she did locked the car as sometimes I catch her leaving it unlocked but that is inside our garage and where the car burned is somewhere you will find questionable fellows lurking around. Thank all the gods for sure that it did not went up in smoke while the wife, daugther and her pregnant friend are inside.

Still, it's good to know that there were no injuries or casualties.
