06 E63 AMG front brakes: practically a bolt on
Just to report that today I confirmed that a front brake set from the older E63 , 06 w/ AMG 8 pot brembos & 350 rotors are doable with just minor spacer to adjust the offset to center calipers to rotors, really few mm - have 19" CLC 5 spoke replica rims with plenty offset so not sure if 18" will clear too - will cut the heavy OEM rotors to put lither aluminum hats, probably slot them too - this week will test fit the rear AMG 4 pot calipers, maybe also lucky with same fittings and no need of any major fabrications, new brackets like some C63 kit, fir those interested - pictures soon!

Front and rears done
So the result is: front 8 pot calipers from E63, fitted with 4 mm spacers and E63 rotors, used the GLks bolts with plenty of thread - rear 4 pot calipers from same E63 also fitted to OeMs bolt holes, but required a 7mm spacer to match GLks oem rotors, still smaller in diam - to avoid cutting them pulled the GLKs front dust shields, need a full front and rear set from any E63 AMG while the worst will be finding crrect AMG rear rotors! Still, I need to find a set of the front 8 pot calipers springs (pictured example) - Posting pics

Try putting the front rotors on the rear and see how they work. You may have to make an adapter so the caliper clears the bigger rotors. That's what I've done on a few BBK's I've built. I'll look through some cad files I have. If not I can build a new cad file and cut some adapters when I get some free time.

Thanks, but I'll pass on your suggestion. I don't mind if you drive off a cliff (as long as you don't hurt a mountain goat on the way down) but there are other road users that can get injured or worse by "not smart things" being done by some people.

I don't have time to argue with you. If you don't have any info to add to the thread keep moving. Feel free to Pm me if you like.

I did/do have something to add to this thread. Be very careful messing around with a well-engineered brake system and brake balance.
No, I do not care to PM you and do not tell me to "keep moving." Understood? Is that clear?

Am I meant to be impressed by the photos you posted? I am not.

Ok I'm over this guy.
Djorge I have a few companies that already have two piece rotors. Chris can change the offset in the hats so the spacers may not be required for centering the calipers.

MBWorld Fanatic!
This is cool, but I have a couple questions:
Are the points where calipers attach strong enough for the increased breaking forces?
Does ESP or ABS need to be reprogrammed?
How much do AMG calipers run for? Seems like a bit of a waste, to put them on GLK.
It's good to see somebody trying things like that. When is the 6.2 litter motor going in?

AMG brakes - all set to GLK
This weekend finished the set up w/ the rear rotors (CLS63 07-11, E63 07-09, E55 03-06, CLS55 06) - bought the drilled Meyle pair from ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/351233203608?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and the surprise - the rear calipers no longer need the spacers used when fitted to the smaller GLK's rotors, real direct bolt on - so conclusions are that only the 7 mm front spacers are needed to fit the front 8 piston calipers to any 2009-13 GLK (maybe same for other M/Ys) besides taking out the front dust shields which are smaller diameter and do not have enough cut outs for the larger calipers;

2 pc rotors
Hey JLT, can you pass me those contacts? really wanted to reduce the fronts, too heavy rotors, despite the 8 pot calipers are way lighter than the original set; Cheers!
