Tuning and/or upgrades

Tuning and/or upgrades
It's a bit of a story, but I have a left over tuning box intended for a BMW X5 (35d). I've emailed the manufacturer (maxchip), but there's always a language barrier to overcome (German to English). I suspect it's too difficult to repurpose that box for a 250 blutec (though I'm open to putting a new connector on it.. Just don't know what to do with the dip switches).
Has anyone does a cost per hp/tq analysis of available upgrades? (Be it, tuning boxes, exhaust, bigger turbo.. Whatever)?

The GLK is, alas, not an enthusiast's car and there is little to no aftermarket support for it. And honestly, I'm not sure I'd want to further tweak an engine that's already pushing 369 lbs/ft of torque out of 2.1l of displacement.

I'm selling the chipmax chip I got from Germany for my BMW X5 on eBay right now to fund the next chip from them for this Benz. Probably doesn't do much, but I'll find out for sure. I know it's an aluminum head, but getting conflicting info on the block (iron or aluminum?).

The om651 has alu head and iron block. Be very wary of amping up the cylinder pressure on an alu head. Alu is way more susceptible to cyclic failures from too high a pressure compared with a cast iron equivalent.
And I have to ask. Why hot rod a diesel anyway? Are you trying to haul freight with it?
