Steering wheel problem. Needs oil?

My 2013 GLK 350 has a problem that's very apparent in the cold. The steering wheel makes a groaning noise like it needs oil when I turn it left or right a quarter way. It sounds louder as I turn it quicker. I don't think my GLK has a steering pump so I can't fill it or anything. This one is electric. Could it be a bad steering assembly? Or do some bushings need to be greased somewhere? Thanks!

I have not read anything here about other electric steering issues.

Are you still covered by the factory 4yr/50k mile warranty? If so then take it in and have them look.

Could be the Macpherson strut. Have someone listen right above the front wheel as you turn the steering wheel. Does the sound stay as a moan when you hold the steering wheel to one side or another or only while turning the wheel. Need toisolate the noise.
