Fuel Filter Help on my ML320
I have a 2001 ML-320
I was trying to change my fuel filter today and I noticed the filter I have on the car (163 477 05 01) doesn't have the fuel loop line I purchased from Autohauz.com
Do I need to install this new line??? or can i just connect the fuel feed line to the left of the filter?
I also purchased the latest updated filter (p/n 163 477 07 01) do i need to change the lines that go to the pump also?? or will the lines I have on the car work???? I don't really want to pull the back seat and change lines if I don't have to...
thanks

the fuel filter was recalled and replaced. You happen to have the pre 00/01 filter. You need to buy some fittings and lines to make it correct.

not so sure
thanks Tommy S4, but I would like to hear from someone who has had the same situation as mine, have you changed your filter recently??
I just need to know if the filter p/n 163 477 07 01 will work with the existing lines and if it is neccessary to install the loop line, that's all.
thanks again, let me see what other Ml owners say

I agree with everyone, you need to replace the fuel lines along with the fuel filter. I wouldn't waste your money on the tool for the fuel lines though. There is just a slight trick to removing them and the tool is just a waste of $. It's not too difficult to replace the filter, it's just very time consuming. It takes longer to access the filter, than to actually replace it. Good Luck.

What are the symptoms of a fuel pump going bad on 2001 ML 320. I have 93000 miles on it. Working perfect till 2 Mos ago.

the line are removed by pushing them on then squeezing and finally pulling away, most of mine came of easy but I did struggle with one of them, it also is not necessary to remove the 60% rear seat, if you first remove the plastic panels under the seat then fold and slide it forward you can then pull up the carpet and expose the access port for the fuel pump, I used a strap around the drivers seat headrest to hold the carpet forward while I worked on the pump.... as for the fuel lines, I did purchase all 3 lines and the new filter but I also wondered if the loop line was really necessary...

it would stall and not start back up, you can confirm by checking the valve on the fuel rail, pressing it will tell you if you have fuel pressure or not...

It would stall but coninues to run. When I punch on the accelerator, it does'nt want to accelerate. It would die but it starts rite back again. Could this be a symptom of a different problen? Spark plugs and cables have just been replaced. Plus the check engine light would not come on. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Can you tell me where the fuel valve is located and I will go ahead and check that. I am not getting any codes right now. I can start it and run it, it would stall and stutter but it keeps going. Thx.

remove the engine cover, it is on the fuel rail and has a black cap on it, once you remove the cap it looks just like a tire pressure valve.
It is located at the front passenger corner of the engine.

Does anyone have a trick or instructions on replacing the fuel loop line?
I replaced the fuel pump a few months ago. I now have an Evap leak code. This line is cracked I am going to replace to see if this resolves the issue.
