hi
its located on the brake master cylinder..if you look at the brake master cylinder just below the reservoir you'll see a wire attached to a switch,,and that is what your'e looking for,its called a high pressure brake switch, real easy to take off and replace,24mm spanner does the job just be careful not to cross thread the new switch when replacing...

I'm supplying the part number only because you asked for it, but you have never said what is wrong with your truck. This part might not correct your problem.

Thanks for part number. ML350 2003 model. I have the BAS light on and tried to replace the brake switch. Waiting for new scanner to arrive so I can read the codes. Just want to get part numbers of things that possibly need replacing to save time. Brake lights work as does abs and cruise control.

Thanks

Whatever scanner you have on the way, hopefully it will read ABS/ESP codes. Here is a list of the codes. Post the code/s that you get and will try to help you.

Don't clear the codes until you post back.

Can you help please I couldn't find the high pressure brake light switch you mentioned, I looked under the brake liquid reservoir there is a cable hanging out of if but does not look like the switch I bought. Where is the brake master cylinder?
Any image would help..
My brake lights are always on at the back and when I press the pedal they go off.

I can only assume that your brake lights do not come on. If that is the case, you must replace the Brake Booster with a used one or a new one.

Starting with model year 2003, Mercedes did away with the conventional Brake Light Sw. attached to the brake pedal and changed the wiring to make it possible to illuminate the brake lights.

There is nothing external on the Brake Booster that must be replaced (as others believe) to correct the problem, the Brake Booster must be replaced.

If you had a scanner that can read ABS codes, you will see that one or all of codes C1201-C1203 would be stored, see PDF below.

I know I'm digging up an old thread, but I'm hoping someone is still subbed, because this is the best info I've found on the net.

I have a 2003 ML5000 and all of the brake lights work, but the shift lock doesn't work like it should (it must be overridden) and I don't see a brake switch at the pedal, but I do see the HP switch under the master cylinder.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks!!

Update: I removed the center console, cleaned everything real well, unplugged the shifter connector, plugged it back in and everything works fine now.
