How can I lock the door? The passenger door won't lock even manually?
Title says it all.
The passenger side door of my 2003 ML500 won't lock even if I push down on the plunger.
I just want the door to lock (to secure the car) until I can replace the component. Is there any way to do this? Is there a trick?
Both rear doors only lock manually, but at least they lock.

Does the central locking button on the dashboard work? If not, you can probably fix that first.

The central locking button on the dash works on most of the doors, but the rear passenger door is hit and miss.
The front passenger door won't lock with the dash button.
It won't lock no matter what I do. I can't even lock it if I depress the plunger.

If the central lock button can lock all the doors except the front passenger's, then the only trick to lock it is to fix the broken lock. Or replace it.
Art has successfully repaired his lock actuators without needing to replace the whole assembly. --> http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w163...l#post10948634
If the lock doesn't respond at all, it might not be plugged in. Open the door panel and check the wiring. Maybe the previous owner dealt with machine gunning by disconnecting it.

Unhooking the power from the door stopped the machine gunning.
The lock wouldn't stay down even without power. I ended using a zip tie to keep the plunger depressed.
It actually works perfectly. The door will still open from the inside but stays locked outside.
Perfect temporary fix.

Lucas, have you seen your profile? The cars which you don't own are there, but the car you do isn't.
Please do something about it.
Thanks.
PS. Open the door panel , get the actuator out. Open it & find out what is wrong. Zip tie????? Really???

Central Locking only with Remote Key
My central locking system works fine with the key fob, but the console switch no longer seems to work. My car was stolen, then recovered, earlier this year. The dealership ordered me a new key, and programmed it. I seem to be experiencing various gremlins now.
Oh, and the doors never have automatically locked when I begin moving. I didn't know that they were supposed to do so, until I read my owner's manual. 😯

No, my central locking still doesn't work from the console. I tried holding the button down, still nothing. I believe that the "Lock while in motion" feature can be disabled, and perhaps the previous owner did so. Central lock from console always worked up until the theft, though.
Other gremlins... Off the top of my head, sometimes the switch needs to be held to get the windows to go fully up or down; sometimes the front air blower won't come on; sometimes the mirrors fail to tilt downward when I reverse; more and more often, the navigation unit won't read the disc (ordered a cleaning kit); and I'm having a weird deal with the car revving and acting like it's stuck in 1st gear when coasting at low speed, then lacking acceleration from a stop. (MAF sensor?).
Thanks in advance for any advice! 😊

All of your problems, except for the eng. revving, are confined to the switch console.
The first thing to check is to see if fuse #42 and relay K20 are in place in the fuse/relay box.
If they are in place, then what you will have to do is remove the switch console and see that the three connectors are fully snapped in.
And no, the MAF Sensor is not the cause of the revving.

Thank you so much, Major Dundee! I will check that fuse and relay in the daylight tomorrow!
