2002 ML500: Loose side mirrors

My power side mirrors work (mechanically) great. Unfortunately, both sides are loose. The drivers side more so than the passenger side. It shifts approximately a quarter to a half inch (wobbles) when driving. I looked at it and it doesn't look like it's about to fall off or anything, but is there a way to adjust or tighten this? Anyone have the diagram? Thanks.

Did you figure it out? I see a diagram to remove the mirrors but not reseting them to original position. I have the same issue with mine and the power folding button was changed out to a non folding mirror one from previous owner.

Well, mine ended up being really simple. I just had to hold the folding mirrors button down and it reset to the right position. Must have somehow been knocked out of position and I honestly didn't even realize it had the folding mirrors option. It is all fine now. Good luck on yours.

I'd like to revisit this topic. My 2002 ML 500 does not have the folding mirror option. When I bought the truck last month the passenger side mirror was loose. I've manually folded the driver's side a few times, but after folding it yesterday it's loose too. How do I reset it without the switch. (Oddly enough, my mirrors DO have the motors, just not the switch)

If you have fixed your loose mirror problem just ignore this, had the problem on my electric folding mirrors, turns out some clown had knocked against the mirror which has some kind of clip inside and gently pushing the mirror towards the door resets the clip.its there to stop damage to the mirror.

Thank you - I created an account just to say thanks. I had my battery changed on my 2007 ML350 and the side mirrors were "floppy". I did the in car manual fold in and out and tight again and also working to auto close when the car is locked.
