What do you mean by "turn signal mirrors"? Mirrors on late model MLs that have integrated turn signals or mirrors like the Escalade with turn signals imbedded in the glass?

Would you please explain what a "retro fit" is...

I have a '98 320. Can I buy a pair and remove the old ones
and just install ? Is there a harness connection in the door panel
for the lights? Or, do I have to wire the power from battery?

No they are not a retro fit, they are totally different connection wise, different wireing harness and in the later model they are run by the control unit, in the center console, the earlier model did not have this control unit, thats why they did not blink, or fold. So as you see it is all different, also the houseing is different so dont try to just replace the outside cover, it will not work. Autogunner.

Yes, it is possible. The side-view mirror turn signals replace the fender signals that were on '98-'01 ML's.

Chris Krikorian upgraded his '00 430 to the power-folding newer-style mirrors. That involved new fender panels and painting (because of the hole that's there in the pre-'02 models) and some wiring (mostly for the power-folding, as the turn signal just comes from the fender signal wiring). See his BW member page (http://www.benzworld.org/forums/view...n=view&uid=105) for contact info.

So it's possible -- definitely not just plug and play, but possible.

"Retro fit" is when the newer model accessories can fit on the older models by plug and play, which means no wiring. There was a time when this website ( www.cars.engisoft.net) were selling the turn signal mirrors but not anymore. Don't know why.

thanks for the info anyway

A few members at benzworld.org have done the retrofit. The part is quite expensive. They say the new mirror just bolts on with no modification required, but the rewiring is a bit tricky but doable.
