Just wanted to introduce myself to the community. Just picked up a Black/Black 2008 ML63. Traded in my Audi wagon because I needed a larger car for my growing family. 2 young boys under 3 makes things interesting.

Love the car so far but in the excitement of test driving and the sale, etc. I overlooked some small details that were missing.

1. I have the DVD rear entertainment but there is no remote. System is useless without it apparently. Where can I find a remote, used or whatever is fine. Are there universal units that can work?

2. Trim pieces are missing. Front seats are missing the little AMG emblem. The rear seats are missing the plastic frame around the child seat anchors. Where is a good place to pick up interior parts?

3. Bluetooth. It didn't come with the module. Ebay units pretty reliable?

4. Any upgrades that are easy to do right off the bat? I'm a pretty solid DIY'er. I'm currently building a Stage 3 Audi S4 twin turbo in my garage. Hoping to get it to 500 whp level. I'll rotate between the ML63 and S4 as daily drivers when I'm done with it. Valentine 1 don't fail me now! LOL

Looking forward to learning more about this beast. Had a C32 AMG a few years back and then did the Audi thing for a while (Q7, A6, A4, S4). Feels good to be back in an AMG again.

Little update:

Purchased the DVD remote control from ebay. Looking with the part # really helped. 164-820-41-89 for anybody in the future. Shocking how expensive a little remote can be!! The dealer wanted $250 and ebay sells it for $130. Also purchased a bluetooth module so I'll report on that when it arrives. Managed to get all the little trim pieces from the dealer at relatively low prices so hopefully I'm all set for now.

Next things on the list for the ML will be new Continental DWS tires and maybe charcoal filter delete with aFe dry air filters. Not going to mess with resonator delete or anything just yet. Sounds pretty healthy as it is already.

Congrats, man! Nice purchase...at least I think so, since I just bought my wife a 2008 ML63 last night for our anniversary...considering I traded her 3.6L 2012 Dodge Durango base model, she's pretty damn excited.

I ordered the ebay bluetooth module today too...fortunately, I had the remote...although our '10 ML350 could play DVDs from the front and back, while the '08 can only play from the underseat player...

So far there is a lot to like...having had an '09 C63 it is sort of a throwback for me. Trying to get over the mildew smell right now (no fan to evaporate the condenser coils like the '09 and later MLs).

Everything arrived from ebay. The blutooth module took about 2 minutes to install. Super simple and easy. Works great. So does the remote control.

Ordered a full set of Continental DWS which will get installed tomorrow afternoon. Then straight to get an alignment. Should be good to go.

Oh, and checked out my air filters...super dirty so will be changing those out for aFe dry air filters in the near future. While I was in there took out the charcoal filters. Haven't noticed much difference but wasn't expecting to notice much on the butt-dyno. I'm sure on the top-end I'll see a difference but haven't explored that territory much yet.

I'm so close to getting the resonator delete but still would like to hear an in cabin before/after video.

Just wanted to give a little update. Replaced my crappy worn tires today for a new set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires. Wow!!! What a difference. The old tires were from 2007 apparantely (I just bought the car) and the fronts were very very worn, the rears were extremely worn on the inside and badly feathered. It was like driving around in an airplane. The tire guy did a full alignment for me as well and it looked to be very badly off on all corners. He even noted that the rolling diameter of the fronts vs. the rears was way off, like 0.4" off! Which he says is a lot and could be why my ESP was tripping. We'll see about that but makes sense if the 4matic is trying to keep the tires rolling together but the rolling diameter of the fronts was different than the rears.

For now I'm so amazed at the transformation of the truck by the new tires. They are make for extreme dry and wet traction with special compound for snow as well. Have #1 rating on tire rack and also had a great reputation in the Audi world. I'm looking forward to trying them out in the snow. Also, they are warranted to 50K miles. Win win.

Scary how much difference tires make, did the smae thing 2 weeks ago. My ml63 20's came with stock yoko advan's(stiffest sidewall known to man) and changed them out with pzero's and wow. Congrats on the car, I settled with a 350

Just removed my resonators today. Wow! The people that said this is how it should have come from factory weren't kidding. It is a nice deeper rumble without being much louder at idle. Barely noticed the difference at idle. Sounds amazing while cruising. Zero drone at all. Sounds a bit louder when you put your foot in it and great at WOT! Overall a more throaty aggressive tone. Makes you fall in love with the truck all over again.

Awesome to hear... Is that as simple as removing and fitting a sleeve between the two pipes? In other words, can any muffler shop do that?

Once the rather breaks i will post a few pics of my wife's ML...though I have a CTS-V, I find myself making excuses for the extra cargo space...brings back my old C63 memories...and there were many!

Did you remove the resonators or the secondary dual cats on your 08 ml63?

From what the workers at the muffler shop told me and from what I saw, the 08 ml63 DID NOT have resonators, but two pairs of cats. From the look of it, there were primary and secondary cats leading up to the muffler and the exhaust tips. I was afraid to remove the secondary cats because I didnt want an obnoxiously loud car. Not to mention, I wasn't sure if there were any sensors attached that would cause the check engine light to go off.

We weren't sure from the looks of them whether they were resonators or secondary cats so we cut one and it ended up being only resonators. I dont have secondary cats.

Oh nice. How can you tell the difference? Sorry for the ignorance but I am very interested in removing them from my ml63.

I have a 2010 C63 and a little disappointed that the ML doesn't sound as loud as the c class.

At muffler shop now deleting resonators...will post video later since nobody else has...this is for a '08 ML63.

Extremely tempted to do the resonator delete. I will buy a beer to the first guy tgat posts videos from in/out the car!

Thanks! Its been great, and now that I'm finally used to its size and mass around corners I can really throw it around confidently. It handles surprisingly well. These tires have been amazing and the resonator delete has only gotten better with time. I know ML63 on here has always said they would "break-in" but its incredible to hear the difference. There is a burble and random pops and back fires when you have it at WOT and then quickly release the gas pedal that is very addicting. I like to wind it up heading into my neighborhood because my boys can hear me coming a mile away and are always running outside with wide grins Its been a fun ride and nobody knows about them. I'm thinking of debadging the back emblems (ML63, AMG) and keeping only the side emblems (6.3AMG) so its more of a sleeper.

Next thing on my list is a solid ECU tune and some lowering links for the airmatic suspension.

Did your 2008 Ml63 come with Bi-Xenons standard? I know it was an option on 2007.

Okay, guys, so, I had the 2 Mufflers deleted a couple of days ago, and I must say that I'm looking for short trips just to hear the exhaust!

With both Mufflers deleted and replaced with 3 inch 409 Stainless Steel Piping and both Resonators deleted with the same piping, it sounds pretty good, yes a little loud, but not at idle or 1500 RPM or below. Use Comfort to start in 2nd gear for less noise.

For those of you who like it a bit quieter and probably what I would have done if I did it over, is to just delete the two mufflers but leave the two stock resonators in place.

If you like it loud like the new 707 HP Dodge Challenger Hellcat, then do what I did.

3:09-3:11 is the sweet sounding exhaust.

Wider stance then stock ML63 with hubcentric 20mm extenders, gives my ML a sports car type cornering, Pirelli 20x10 racing tires on stock rims. Hockey stick E350 led driving lights, grill badge, chrome trims.





[I]Vortex generators on top allows this beast to slip through turbulence and drag caused by the air boundary layer. When big rigs pass me and when in heavy side winds the ML doesn't shutter and shake, but instead Flys down the road like a dart with arrow feather flights. Starts working over 35 mph. and best over 100 mph. Not to many stock sedans can take this beast on, not one SUV has ever taken her, I always say: first one to the speed limit wins.
