Unfortunately the time has come for me to sell my beloved 2004 SL600. This is by far the most incredible car I have ever owned. I am going to miss this car dearly, but changes in my business (real estate) are forcing me to look at a car with better gas mileage and more room. I’m no longer flipping houses as margins are too tight, so I’m back to acting like a traditional realtor. I can’t drive clients all over town in a V12 two seater, so a BMW 335i is likely my next car.
I purchased the car in 2011 from an immigration attorney in San Diego (San Marcos). He bought the car from a dealership in Orange County in 2009 with 50,000 miles. It was at this time he bought the Fidelity Platinum warranty (4 years/48k miles). The warranty was then transferred to me and I will transfer the warranty to the new buyer (at my expense).
The car has just under 72,000 miles and is in great shape. The auto check report shows no accidents and I know for sure it has not been damaged in any way since I have owned the car.
If you are in the market for a SL, you may have been disappointed to find that many of the cars on the market need significant repairs. I looked at 3 SL55’s and 1 other SL600 before I bought this car. I did pre purchase inspections on all of those cars and they all came back needing $3,000-$9,000.00 in work!!!
The beauty of this deal is because the car still has platinum warranty coverage until 5/31/2013, if you decide to do a pre-purchase inspection on this car, any issue that arises will be covered and thus you won’t waste your money ordering a pre purchase inspection only to find the car needs work and the owner is not willing to adjust the price.
Additionally, assuming I sell this case by March 1st, the new buyer will have all of Mach, April, and May to break as many things as they want and get them repaired for just a $100 deductible. Fidelity has been so great, that I will be using them again when I buy my 335i.
However, I don’t expect any pre purchase inspection to reveal any major issues as I just got the car back from the shop two weeks ago. The ABC suspension values were replaced along with the radiator and radiator hose.
Another great thing about this car is everything known to go bad on these cars has been taken care of over my two years of ownership. Since owing the car I have replaced engine and transmission mounts, the gas tank (baffle went bad), a few ABC suspension issues, trunk shocks, navigation/radio unit, high voltage ignition module, coil packs, batteries, and more.
Really the only common issue that I have not had to resolve is the hardtop roof pump. Hopefully it breaks before 5/31/2013 because then EVERY common issue that could be expected will have been repaired…all under warranty.
The car looks stunning in black on charcoal with the color matched black interior trim and door jam pieces. The car turns heads and gets compliments all the time. Sometimes the attention gets annoying.
Is it fast? Yes. Very fast. The software makes this car as fast as an SL65. I put 669 ft/lbs to the rear wheels on the dyno before breaking a dyno strap. Because of this, the shop had to shut down the dyno day as they had no more straps. I was not able to get a horsepower reading, but I was happy with the 669ft/lbs number and the fact that I could brag that my car broke the dyno. LOL.
Potential issues: You really have to be picky to find something wrong with this car. However, I appreciate a picky buyer, so I will try to address any thing that may cause concern. The car does have some rock chips up front. Had to find a car without this issue. The car also has a crack in the front air dam and the crack has been covered in touch up paint. Again, hard to find an SL without this damage as the air damn is so low. If I were keeping the car I'd look into getting an SL65 front air dam. The rims have a bit of curb rash, but still look great. The front driver seat has a few hairline cracks in the leather. Once again, good luck finding a 2003-2006 SL600 without these tiny cracks. The leather between the dashboard and glove box has a bit of wear. Not sure what happened here. Perhaps it was marked up when the glove box latch was replaced. That's really about it. No accidents that I know of and no major flaws to the body or interior.
Auto trader lists 24 2004 SL600’s for sale currently in the USA. Lowest price is $24,990.00. Average price is $34,774.00. I’m asking $29,500.00. obo.
If you show up at my door, drive the car, and then offer me $29,000.00 cash, I probably won’t turn you down, but if you email me and offer $23,000.00, I will tell you to buy either the 122,000 mile or 97,000 mile SL600 on auto trader.
If you are seriously in the market for a nice SL600, you know my starting price is fair. Especially since you know mine will not have any surprises or issues due to the fact it is still under warranty. PM me or call me at 602 570 7207 with questions.

I have an autocheck report I can email any potential buyers.
Video below shows exhaust sound:
Here is the video of the car breaking a dyno strap:
I may try to have the car dyno-ed again before I sell it to get a accurate horsepower reading.

Thanks!
Car is now on autotrader and listed on ebay. I'm not messing around.
Getting lots of interest, but everyone wants to negotiate. Have some strong offers but want to make sure everyone has a chance to give me their highest and best before I sell.

Thanks. You as well. Really wish I could have kept it or gotten a newer SL, but had to adjust for priorities. Guess we are kinda in the same boat on that.

Sale pending.
I already have sellers remorse. I WILL own another one someday. I picked up my 335i on Tuesday and it just cannot compare. Honestly, it sucks. Probably gonna be in the market for a C63, E55, or CL shortly. The new CL's are getting cheap.
