On the hunt for a gently used ml63
I've got the thumbs up to trade out our 2007 ml500 75k miles for a gently used ml63 or ml550 or bt.
I've been dreaming of this swap for many months.
Just out of curiosity ill test drive a 2013bluetec and 2013 550.
My research tells me:
2013 blutech. 15 or 16 sec quarter mile, but low end tq is nice. Probably great for towing and good mileage.
2007 ml500. 14.5 sec quarter mile
2010 ml63 low 13 sec quarter mile
2013 ml550. Mid 13 sec quarter mile. But a tune away from high 12's???
I don't plan to drag race the thing, but on the days I daily drive it I prefer something with some go.
I'm thinking all 3 options will tow jetski is fine and give me years of service.
If anyone has a low Mlg warrantied ml63 for sale near Houston hit me up,

You would be happier with the 2013 Blue tec. The fuel economy is great , The down side to this , is that you have to add in the Blue juice / horse **** to a OEM separate reserve tank. For performance increase You could add in a Kleemann dual channel KD Box. The KD box is a quick install, uses OEM connectors. can be removed in seconds if warranty presents is needed. Dual Channel handles fuel pressure & then Boost pressure . The old KD box did just a single channel that handles Fuel pressure .
I just did a single channel KD Box on a 2008 ML 320 CDI . No dyno for proof. Customer said there is a seat of the pants increase , but did a actual tank to tank fill up & saw a 3 MPG increase at HWY speeds , interstate run for Stuart,FL. to Blowing Rock , N.C. a 12 hour run at 70 - 75 mph .
Cheers _PTEngineering

Since I'm particular about my cars and she came to me 3rd hand I had a few small projects:
1. Performance seemed lacking....... It still had orig air filters which were black with debris/dirt. It just would not rev out like wife's old c63....... Svc advisor said mb does not rec new af until 40k miles. This is at 30k. New af's and big diff! Done. Seems to idle smoother as well. Assuming my das star will talk to this ml.... Ill check fuel trims this weekend.
2. Running board had a broken fastener.... Easy. 7$ fix.
3. Stock brakes are soft IMHO. Doing the 2 part rotor brake kit w stock calipers and fluid flush.
4. Clay bar action coming soon.
5. Bought this to tow jetskis..... Will report MLg towing 3 skiis at 70 mph. Old ml500 got 15-17mgp towing.

AWESOME CAR MAN!!...... you're gonna love it. I have one just like it (tan interior though) and while it is quieter (too much on my opinion) than my old C63, I love all the new array of things you can do with it, while still hauling *** down the road.
If you don't mind, can I ask you two questions?
1. How much did you pay for it?
2. (This is more of a suggestion), Once you do the claybar, I would highly suggest you slap clear bra wherever you can, use the good stuff, 3M (specially being black). It is not cheap, but worth every penny IMO.
Cheers!!

I paid middle retail per Edmonds so I was happy considering the good condition.
Got ext warr too..... so hopefully I'll get a good 5 yr run in it.
*100 on the clearbra.... already have some rock chips after a couple weeks of ownership..... damn gravel hauling trucks on 59 in H-town....... I really believe the leave the belly cracked open so they don't have to clean it out at the end of the day!
Going to tow jetskiis this sunday for 1st time.... will test out the air suspension with a load, and at our ride spot... we have a short 100yard stint of sand/gravel/grass to get to the lake..... so I'll put the suspension on full lift position for the "short" offroad section!

Does the ECU for stock ML63 learn your driving habits over time?..... I've heard this, but I never really thought much of it until buying this used ML63. It had kids cartoon cd's all in the players...... so I'm guessing it was a family truckster..... which translates to was driven like a mini-van. The a/f's were real dirty when I got it, and to be honest I was not too impressed with the power.
I've since installed new a/f's, and the car has been in my "hoon" hands now for a couple weeks, and it seems way more responsive....... downshifts on command, and just eats up the road..... is this much of a change possible?
Weather is actually worse now than when I got it..... 99 deg F today with high high humidity.... so it's not better DA factoring in here.
Can't wait for this fall.

Just took the ML63 on it's maiden jet-ski towing voyage! And wow what a diff over the 2007 Ml500: As follows:
1. Gas mileage - went from 17 mpg to 15.4 mpg.
2. Braking, accel, handling, towing stability - WAY BETTER All around. The air suspension really keeps the load level and gives the truck a planted feeling.
3. I used the air raising option to help me unload my skiis at the lake. it tilts the trailer futher in the water. Not sure this was on the AMG eng mind but it helps.
I love this truck!
Getting GAS: Oh did I say it LOVES GAS!
With the suspension fully raised at our riding spot:
