ml63 m156 ratteling noise in oil filter housing
I have a rattling noise on my engine 2007 ML63 M156. putting statoscope on it comes from oil filter housing. don't have lifters noise or any other noises just rattling noise on filter housing. any advises?

No, I didn't diagnose that....had a look at the engine schematic to try an identify a possible part but that didn't help either....(I'm not a mechanic)
I took the car into the MB dealer for them to listen too...it was intermittent when the mechanic was listening and a hard noise to explain to him.....lots of head scratching.....he couldn't hear anything wrong.
That was a while ago and I haven't heard it since

Thanks for the reply, im thinking its the valve in the filter housing. I've changed the oil with fresh ams 5w40 and a new hengst filter but no change. I'm a mechanic for 15 years, the car otherwise drives fine and makes good power with no fault indicators. I'm thinking that the pressure flowing through the housing and that valve along with the natural vibration of a v8 is the source if noise and probably normal.
