ML63 Alternator Problem?

Battery died last month. Replaced with new battery. Did not replace aux battery. Soon after replacement, red battery light appeared a couple times, but system voltage read 13.7 by the time I checked and light disappeared within a couple minutes. Seemed to work fine after.

This morning red indicator showed up after 30 minute drive (harder than normal drive). Voltage showed 11.9 on the dash, so I switched off everything (lights, stereo, AC) and confirmed with aux plug meter. Voltage rose to 12.1, then for 30 seconds jumped to 14.7, then back to 11.9 - 12.1.

I was at work, so just parked. Would have driven to a shop if I wasn't already at work. Hope I can make it to the shop after work... I don't have my code reader with me to troubleshoot further.

Any ideas? Regulator seems likely to me. I guess I have the next 10 hours to think it over before I have to hope the car starts. Thanks!

Update - no sign of the problem after work. No sign of the problem in the morning. What the ****, Archer?

Update - after sporadic intervals of no sign of trouble, alternator failed completely. I just replaced the alternator and everything works awesome again.
