ML550 and ML63 now on MBUSA.com

http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicles/models/class-M

No Eucalyptus wood trim option and bland 5-spoke wheels standard on the ML550. Hopefully our dealer can swap the wheels out (would rather have the 19" wheels from the US version ML350) and has a list of options for wood type and other items not listed on the web site.

And why is the 'ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM' standard on the ML350s but not the ML550?

ML 550

Wow. A 402 HP twin turbo SUV that give 15-20MPGs.
Wonder if they would let me have one as a loaner??

The ML63 is also rated at 15 mpg. Probably optimistic but awesome nonetheless.

That must be an error on the Active Curve system as that system is only supposed to work on vehicles with the airmatic to begin with. I also believe the ML550 will have airmatic as standard.

That's erroneous. Active Curve System is only standard on the ML63.

What really threw me off is that leather is not standard on a 550. WTF ?!

Not everyone, like many with small kids or pets, want leather. Good to have options. The whole thing of tying luxury items to engine size is misguided, IMO.

Fully agree, and after being so impressed with the MB-Tex in our GLK350 we actually prefer that for the ML550! Hopefully there's also an option for a matching MB-Tex dash.

I completely understand your point. But have leather as default on the vehicle and let people choose MB-Tex if they want. The rest of the V8 engine cars default to leather why not the ML ? It just seems inconsistent in my eyes. And I also find it ridiculous that leather costs extra at this price level of the car.

It's a sport UTILITY vehicle, is one reason that the vinyl makes sense. Also, I think for this vehicle MB really wanted to not increase the base price relative to the W164. Adding leather would have forced an increase.

The ML 550 should be cheaper than the 350 because it's going to cost me more in gas.

And the AMG should be considered the poor man's ML ?

If you follow this logic then why can't I get MB-Tex seats in a GL 550 ? It certainly has more utility then the ML.

Indeed; it should come with cloth seats. Or perhaps seats should be optional?? Lie down and buckle up!
