Gas engine temp above 1/2...normal?
My engine temp here in current Southern California weather conditions is always above the 1/2 way mark once the truck has warmed up. I know on the w164 there wasn't a temp gauge unless you toggle through the settings to get a digital reading, but on ours there is a permanent analog engine temperature gauge(interesting... maybe an exchange to replace the permanent analog clock?)
I know the needle is far from the red zone but I was curious what the typical engine temp is on our gas 6cyl since most other vehicles I have owned do not run over the halfway mark under normal conditions.

FWIW: 2012 GLK 350, same engine, from 20F to 80+F, highway at 70mph+ to grocery getting mph, the temp gauge is pegged at 80C. The needle moves vertically from the bottom and is above the middle. I think middle is 60C.

Benz normally points above the half mark on their gauges. That's how they are set up. Forget comparing them to other cars that use halfway as a normal reference.

Halfway is 80C, max. Is 120C, normal is between 80 & 120.
Noted this morning: Normal appears to be ~ 90C, or thereabouts. According to GOOGLE, that would be 190F + or -.
